I'm going to post this once
Rev. Yearwood not only deserves a sincere apology for how he was treated, but monetary compensation as well.

This is in reference to this VIDEO of the incident.

A few points:
1) Rev. Yearwood did not break any law. He should never have been put under arrest, or ordered to leave, or touched, or tackled to the floor, or any other such thing by any kind of law enforcement officer.

2) If his leg broke, if his ankle broke, if his ankle sprained, or any other injuries or lack thereof he may of may not have suffered, or whether or not he may or may not have lied afterwards about it is utterly irrelevant point number 1.

3) Whether or not he "lunged" away from an officer is not relevant. The officer had no right to touch him at all in the first place! See point #1. If you want to argue that he "resisted arrest", maybe you ought to be questioning why he was ever under arrest in the first place.

Finally, for those so biased that they can't even believe their own eyes in the face of video evidence:

I don't know how anyone can take the officers' side on this. Unless you want to live in an America where law enforcement is able to grab you from behind while you calmly walk away after having committed no crime at all....

3. No hiding!
Video evidence is clear; there's nothing to hide behind in this case.

4. Do you remember weeks after Katrina,
A 65 year old man was tackled by police, and was kicked by the police as he was down. Well, it was completely obvious it was police brutality, but not to the judge who said "this isn't even close", and dismissed it.
You can see it with your own eyes, but it doesn't matter.

5. Oh yeah.
I remember there were a lot of white republicans apologizing for that one too.

And that 14 year old black kid who was punched in the back of the head while handcuff. Lots of people making excuses for that.

And Rodney King. They kept saying he must of done something to deserve it.

Fifty years ago these were the kind of people that would show up at a lynching with a picnic basket.

6. i couldn't agree
more-

This was totally uncalled for- i'm glad it was captured on camera.

Police officers aren't infallible- and when they are wrong, it is critically important for them to be held accountable- That is the only hope we have of keeping those in authority positions from becoming corrupted.

imo-

7. "For what?"
At the start of the video, we see people filing into the room, then Rev Yearwood asking why he is being denied entrance, as he was in line and is a citizen. "Why am I being singled out?"

An officer puts his hand on Rev Y. for some time. 30 seconds later, while still seeking an explanation as to why he was being singled out and expaining that he was in line, he was told he was under arrest. Rev Y. says, "For what?"

Good question.
