I didn't think that Howard Dean could win in 2004. |
|
I supported him because I thought that his anti-war stance would put on on firm ground to rebound in 2006 and 2008.
In 2007, the Governor's office in NYS was up for grabs. The GOP didn't have a chance in hell of beating Spitzer. So the GOP ran someone that stood for their core party principles. They got their ass kicked, but they stood their ground.
I was very comfortable with John Kerry - he is a good, old school, fighting liberal. If he had opposed the war, like Ted Kennedy, I would have supported him from the start.
Howard Dean excited people with his campaign. At one time we had more folks showing up for Dean meetups then we have Dems showing up for monthly committee meetings. Dean was popular because his anti-war stance was ahead of its time.
In 2008, We will win the White House. But that is not enough. We need the courage to seek peace with Iran.
I know that this is not currently popular with the bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran (sheeple) crowd, but PEACE TAKES COURAGE!
Lets hope that our party can wage peace with Iran. Anything less is uncivilized.

1. GIven how well the Iraq war has gone, you'd have to hope they'd at least consider it. |

2. Quite true ... anything less IS uncivilized |

I must say I am not a pacifist, and that if Iran insists on developing a nuclear weapon then I perceive that as a problem. I could go along with a plan to remove that capability through forceful means ... provided we had honestly gone through all the diplomatic steps necessary to avert that situation.
As things stand now I am suspicious of any plan to attack Iran. I just don't trust the goons in power to have done what is necessary to work this out peacefully. I do not trust them to make that decision for the right reasons. In short, I do not trust them. I think it is quite possible to work this out without bloodshed, but I suspect that such a resolution would be an actual disappointment to these ghouls.
