4. Obviously, 29% of GOP voters can never admit to making a huge mistake. |
|
One of the best things I like about being a Democrat is that there is not a single candidate I have ever voted for that I would not be happy to vote for again.
Most didn't win their elections, but history shows they all SHOULD have. I'm talking people like Carter, McGovern, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, etc., etc.
How many Republicans can say that? How many can say they have NEVER voted for a guy they wouldn't happily vote for again?
I'm talking people like Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Dole, and Bush 1 ad 2 -- not to mention prominent elected Republicans like Newt, Cunningham, Ney, etc., etc.
I'll tell you how many -- 29 lying percent, that's how many.

5. Dukakis is conspicuously absent... |
|
I wish now I had voted for him. I voted for Bush Sr. back in '88. I still had not "come out" as a liberal, and am ashamed of my voting record through 1992. I've voted straight Democratic since 1994, though.

8. Yeah, I left Duke out, I'm afraid, intentionally. |
|
I was never impressed with Dukakis. In fact, I personally consider him to be symbolic of how far off track the Democratic Party had gotten back then in its political philosophy and in its pandering to special interest groups (even well-motivated ones.)
But having confessed that, let me now make amends by including Mike Dukakis as another Democrat whom I would happily (though not exuberantly) vote for again. Had he and not Reagan been elected, I think my country would be a better -- not a bitter -- one today. I wish he had won. I wish they had ALL won.
