John Howard should be condemned
by the US Congress. His comments re Obama and the Democratic party are fugging out of order. Ron Wyden's response was useful but the Dems need to condemn this on the record.

1. Absolutely!!!
On CNN they were just saying that Obama had responded??? I couldn't hear it very well because my husband stuck his head in the room and asked me a question while the story was on.

5. Obama told him to send 20,000 Australian
troops if he was serious. He is the Australian Prime Minister who attacked both Obama and the Democratic Party.

http://www.theage.com.au/news/National/Obama-dismisses-Howards-Iraq-criticism/2007/02/11/1171128806932.html

<snip>
"I would also note that we have close to 140,000 troops in Iraq, and my understanding is Mr Howard has deployed 1,400, so if he is ... to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq," Mr Obama told reporters in the mid-western US state of Iowa.

If Mr Howard did not take up the invitation, Mr Obama said the comments became nothing more than "empty rhetoric".

"I think it's flattering that one of George Bush's allies on the other side of the world started attacking me the day after I announced (I would run for the 2008 Democrat presidential nomination)."

Mr Howard started the fight when he criticised Mr Obama's plan to withdraw US combat troops by March 2008.

"If America pulls out of Iraq in March 2008 it can only be in circumstances of defeat," Mr Howard told Nine Network on Sunday.

"If I were running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats."

8. Good for him. I think Obama has great potential
and will not back down. I like his quick responses.

3. No
they really don't.

The US Congress shouldn't condemn a foreign leader for saying something dumb - it would give the whole incident far more attention than it deserves.

4. Besides, if they were inclined to do so, they would have done
it for Chavez.

Note that Cheney is about to visit Australia.

This trip looks very suspicious. Looks like the Iran attack is on.

Add.

7. He Should Be Told To Shut the FUCK Up
He should be told -- in no uncertain terms -- that we condemn him and what he had to say.

Then he should be told to shut the fuck up.

He should be reminded that no one here cares about what some Australian Fascist has to say about our elections here.
