What ever happened to "The Nuclear Option"
Why is it only the whining, bitching Repugs threaten to use it?

I think Reid really does have the spine of an overcooked linguine.

Pathetic

2. The repukes threatened the
nuclear option over judicial votes. In any case getting rid of cloture is a really piss poor idea. It should be obvious as to why.

It would take away the Democrat's principal excuse
as to why they can't do anything of any substance?

9. They filibustered legislation
many times when they were in the minority. They also filibustered judicial noms. Miguel Estrada ring any bells? I hate these rumors. They become gospel on DU, and they're just bullshit.

From People for the American Way:
http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=8146

Please take a moment to write and mail letters to two of the 45 senators who voted to filibuster Estrada's nomination (see list below). Write to your own senators if they supported the filibuster, or write to senators from another state if yours supported Estrada and President Bush's court-packing plan.

14. It must be pretty important legislation if you have to google and search for it.
What courage. I didn't want Eric Estrada to be a judge either.

15. Unknown? LOL!
You're just ignorant. Sorry, if you don't know about the Estrada battle, you really don't know much about the topic you're trying to discuss. And you're clearly not interested in learning. You prefer to hang on to your erroneous pre-conceived biases.

But then someone pointed out how wrong you were. Now you're scrambling to backpedal.

21. It's also worth noting, as the big bloggers have, that the MSM only CALLS it a "filibuster"...
... when it's Democrats doing it. The last jillion or so republican minority filibusters are called things like "procedural maneuvers" and what-not. Once again, IOKIYAR.

25. And the news reports are "The SENATE blocks the Webb Amend." & "The SENATE blocks renewal of Habeas
Corpus." Those headlines SHOULD read..."The REPUBLICANS block the Webb Amendment" and "The REPUBLICANS block renewal of Habeas Corpus."

The MSM propaganda networks are NOT on our side. They've made that perfectly clear.

27. I agree completely. That is a ridiculous way for them to write
the headlines. The Senate didn't block these bill. The Republicans in the Senate blocked these bills.

26. The "nuclear option" was limited in scope and wouldn't do anything to help us at present
It only would have removed the filibuster as a tool to defeat judicial nominations, not legislation.

With a Republican President, the Democratic majority has no need for the "nuclear option" as envisioned by Republicans in the 109th Congress.
