MSNBC:Defiant comeback :Grammy digs Chicks!
Edited on Sun Feb-11-07 11:48 PM by cal04
Trio sweeps top awards, takes album of year for ‘Taking the Long Way’

The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, winning five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group’s anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion.

The Texas trio won record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem “Not Ready to Make Nice.” They also won best country album — which was especially ironic considering that the group has said they don’t consider themselves country artists anymore.

Mary J. Blige’s comeback also was richly rewarded: She received three trophies for her double-platinum album “The Breakthrough.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers won three as well for their double disc “Stadium Arcadium.”

That’s interesting,” Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines crowed from the podium after winning the country award. “Well, to quote the great ‘Simpsons’ — ‘Heh-Heh.’

1. I know!
That's right Nashville, the Dixie Chicks won BIGTIME at the REAL music awards, the Grammy's. It must have sucked (royally of course) that the corprofascists on Music Row and at Clear Channel could not "rig" these awards unlike your FAUX awards show, the CMA's. Welcome to the REAL WORLD. It is wide and diverse. We are all part of it, that includes the Country community. The only thing is, unlike in your small world, you are not the center of it. I detest your ignorant genre of "music", I always have and always will.

4. This is great!
Nothing makes me sicker than the ridiculous proposition that shutting someone up via not playing their records is supposed to make their opinions and ideas go away. Being a child of the 60s and a teen of the 70s nothing could be more ridiculous!

6. Listen closely and you will hear "pip, pip, pip, pip"
That's the sound of tiny little Freeper heads all over the country popping in ersatz outrage.
