YOUR NIGHTLY VIDEO: "Is Anna Nicole Still Dead?" Asks Jack Cafferty After Media Overkill |
|
NEW YORK You'd think there was nothing else important going on in the world -- or so it seemed on TV late Thursday and into Friday in the wake of the death of busty airhead Anna Nicole Smith. So in case you wisely turned away from this train wreck, ThinkProgress.org has put together a lowlight reel. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003544216

1. What a completely horrible article. "Death of busty airhead" indeed. |

She was a human being with people who loved her. Yet Mr. Mitchell deems fit to write disparagingly of her on the night of her death. Disgraceful, eh?

3. Um it's in your opening paragraph |

I don't know what she did to deserve her 'celeberty' but there it is. People loved her.

4. Do porn stars or movie stars... |
|
really deserve their celebrity status? Most of them don't do much of anything besides go to photo shoots and hang out on beaches and in night clubs. They tend to be the dullest people you'd ever hope to meet.
Anna lived an interesting life, to say the least. She was red hot Texas mess. I think she deserved her notoriety simply for getting off those glorious one-liners during cross examination at her first trial against Pierce Marshall. Before the fame and drugs destroyed her, she was a fun, tough Texas gal who pulled herself out of poverty and made it big as a model when no one thought she could because she wasn't thin enough or smart enough.

8. My problem is not with her, it's the excessive media coverage. |
|
I mean, they pre-empted Hardball and other news shows night after night all last week to report continuously on the "breaking story" of her death.
You point out that "she was a human being with people who loved her", which I'm sure is true enough. But does her death deserve day after day after day of non-stop coverage at a time when there are other important things going on - war with Iran, anyone?
I imagine that other "human beings with people who loved them" also died on the very same day as Smith, but the mass media says not one word about any of them, because they are not ditzy blonde naifs with large breasts.
Mostly, I just want Hardball back!

9. "Day after day of non-stop coverage" no. |

But folks here were complaining about the coverage 30 minutes after the news came out before she was even cold.
Of course, to be really irritated with the media for pre-empting other stories you have to believe that they would actually be covering something important to begin with. :)

5. Cold and cruel of Cafferty |
|
and E&P. Hopefully, Jack and Greg Mitchell never have to face a death of a loved one and hear such comments. Both are part of the media and need to work to fix their problems instead of piling on even more.

7. It was a shocking story to everyone because she was so young... |
|
add to that the recent death of her son and the question of who is the father of her daughter. I have to admit I was very interested in what happened.
