Senator Kerry on Imus:
Kerry just spoke about the Feith intelligence lies. He said he believes that the Senate needs to call Cheney and Rumsfeld to testify abbout what went on in that time period. He said if Feith isn't prosecuted because he was just following orders, we need to find out who gave those orders.

This is what a Senator is supposed to be.

1. Pretty Damning About Colin Powell Too
I mean what do you do if you're a Senator and go to the Pentagon, ask for the intelligence and Colin Powell looks you in the eye and says here it is. the proof. You vote for the war that turns out to be a lie.

But it was Powell who sat down with Kerry and made the case, to his face, according to Kerry.

14. As I've long believed - he assumed Scowcroft, Baker and Bush1 had more influence
over what Bush2 would decide and Colin promised the weapons inspections would lead the decision.

Those more familiar with the workings of first Bush administration EXPECTED their anti-invasion stance to win out in the end.

So did I.

HIS gang. Apparently they were NOT in control of him on Iraq. Scowcroft was even Rice's mentor and she shined him completely on Iraq.

are going to help tear down the curtains of secrecy per the venality of bushco in the runup (and since) to war. It is the best chance to turn back the current drumbeating towards Iran.

33. Right as usual, salin
Here, let me share part of a snail mail letter I got from Senator Rockefeller:

January 19, 2007

The (intelligence) committee's investigation into prewar intelligence on Iraq has revealed that the Bush Administration's case for war was fundamentally misleading. The Administration pursued a deceptive strategy of using intelligence reporting that the Intelligence Community had already warned was uncorroborated, unreliable, and in critical instances, fabricated. Key finding of the Report indicate that Iraq did not provide any material or operational support to Al Qaida prior to the war, and that there was no evidence to suggest that Saddam Hussein intended to use Al Qaida or any other terrorist group to strike the U.S.

<snip>

The administration's central basis for invading Iraq was the claim that Iraq and Al Qaida were the same threat, and that Iraq would give weapons of mass destruction to Al Qaida to strike against the U.S. In making these claims, the Administration ignored the intelligence reporting that there was no evidence of an operational relationship or cooperation between Iraq and Al Qaida. Saddam's Iraq was isolated prior to the war and did not present an imminent threat to the U.S. Our invasion of Iraq has cost Americans dearly and produced a more formidable terrorist threat to our national security than would have otherwise existed.

I know this Senator as one who has never been prone to much adversarial language. As I've told you before, keep your eye on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

3. Great - This needs to be "shouted from the rooftops."
I heard Feith on NPR this weekend, or perhaps Friday. He was very shrill and defensive, and quite disrespectful of the interviewer. Juan Cole neatly exposes his lies in his Saturday, Feb. 10 blog:

Douglas Feith, the notorious former Pentagon official who has repeatedly been investigated for allegedly distorting prewar intelligence on Iraq, was hired by Georgetown University in May 2006 to teach a course on the Bush administration's strategy in the war on terror. Feith served as the deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, the number three position at the Pentagon, from July 2001 to August 2005.

“Feith has been questioned by the FBI in relation to the passing by one of his employees of confidential Pentagon documents to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which in turn passed them to the Israeli Embassy. The Senate Intelligence Committee is also investigating Feith. There seems little doubt that he operated in the Pentagon in such a way as to produce false and misleading ‘intelligence,' that he created an entirely false impression of Iraqi weapons capabilities and ties to al-Qaida, and that he is among the chief facilitators of the U.S. war in Iraq. Feith is clearly resigning ahead of the possible breaking of major scandals concerning his tenure at the Department of Defense, which is among the more disgraceful cases of the misleading of the American people in American history.”

32. I was a Kerry delegate for the state Of Fla..and i can tell you ..there is no finer man
i have ever met in politics..or smarter!!

I know I know people will say he made mistakes..and i will agree..he did..

But no one has more integrity..( Gore does) but i say this from the bottom of my heart..i met Kerry many times during the campaign..and i went out and did speaking for him..and i will say this over and over if nessesary..he is an incredible man..he never forgets you..and he is a kind soul..

I was a flight crew of American Airlines and i always wore my wings with a special pin made for our Ny base for our fallen flight crew from 9/11 and he always stopped and ran his fingers over my wings..and over the 9/11 pin..and he would look me in the yes directly and say..we will get the truth ..and he would say my name..and he would repeat it..we will get you and those families the truth...

Teressa would do the same..only Teressa would get tears in her eyes everytime she looked at my wings..and my Pin...

there was never anything but the most sincerest heart felt feeling from both of them!
And they always Thanked me for all my work ..not for them..understand...

..but for the country...

no finer people have i ever met..as well as the Edwards..John and Elizabeth...

Sunday night , before the election John Kerry was here where i live doing a rally..it was the first Rally i didn't work...i took the time to enjoy it..and my husband and i were in the VIP section..next to the stage..and when Kerry was shaking people's hands when he was done speaking ..i was a little back of the crowd..he literally jumped up on the railing and jumped over people to grab me and hug me..and kiss me...and he wispered in my ear..we are going to do it ..for your angels ( what i always call my co-workers who died on 9/11) ...and he had tears in his eyes as well as i did...
my husband who is not-political had tears in his eyes...and literally started crying...and said..he is going to win..and that it was his best speech...

John Kerry will always be a hero to me..and a champion for the people...

he loves this country..and he loves the values that we now see being destroyed..

he would have made a wonderful President..and he will always be my president...in my heart.........

36. Wow, thank you for sharing your story
Our media has a lot to answer for in cheerleading for the war. At some point, I hope they will have to answer for ignoring stories like yours - and there seem to be an endless number of them - of a genuinely kind, sincere man. Instead the MEDIA wanted to drink and play with a sociopath.

40. That's the Senator Kerry I know, too. He is COMMITTED to this country and to us.
Us, just plain old regular citizens who want to be respected by TRUTHFUL lawmakers.

41. What people didn't get off the tv, people like you would see face to face
and folks wonder why I love this man. I cried like somebody died when he didn't get in. And cried again when he announced he wasn't running.

But I still have his back.

I was and am a Gen. Clark supporter but, after Kerry won the nomination - was completely on board with Kerry/Edwards. Saw and heard JK in Phila. with Clinton. I gained a lot of trust and confidence in him during the campaign.

67. Excellent story! My heart was touched by him also
He responded to a direct comment I made while he was speaking (I know, so rude! lol) and he liked what I said, and smiled real big and said, "I know YOU know what Bush has been doing" and everyone chuckled. His eyes lit up, he knew I was holding a camcorder and he smiled warmly in it for several seconds.

Also, the more evident sign of what a loving man of humanity he is - in Tampa, in his next to last or last appearance in Florida before he & Edwards were robbed of the election thanks to Blackwell's handiwork in Ohio, he spoke to a boisterous excited crowd after the Goo Goo Dolls played, and after it was all over, my friend and I who attended 5 rallies, were walking down a deserted street and here comes John's secret service detail and his SUV right behind it, HE ROLLS DOWN HIS WINDOW AND WAVES AT US AND SMILES WARMLY AS WE WAVE AT HIM GOING BY! I turned around and looked everywhere, we were the only two people within 100 feet!

The man is a hero, always will be. I hated seeing him cast to the wolves for his "botched" joke, which I still believe was intentionally twisted to make him look bad of course, and ran into the ground because they knew he was formidable running again, the man got basically half the vote in '04, who's to say our next candidate will do that, ya know? So they took him down, I'm not sure who THEY is precisely, and in a way, it's probably best I don't know.

God bless John! I hope Clark runs - Clark & Edwards would be great!

70. omgoodness..that is the rally i was talking about!!..the one in Tampa
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 02:53 AM by flyarm
he jumped over the fence and grabbed me..it was in Tampa...in the park..i was in VIP section..next to stage..but i had run all his vip sections for security for all he and Edwards rallys in tpa , st pete and Pinellas..
i had the field rep in charge for Kerry living with me for 7 months..he was in charge of the campaigns for Pinellas , Bradenton, and Sarasota.

And i was close with the Tpa field rep as well...i was kind of the mom away from home for them...and my young man lost his mom while he was with me 3 weeks before election so hubby and i paid to fly him home to be with his mom..and i took over running the campaign offices!..18 hours a day!!

But in all the rally's i was in charge of the volunteers for security..from the get go!!

and i was alway at the stage running the vip sections and the volunteers..

and people i met across the nation working on the campaign ..i could get Kerry's pr people/and security people ON THE PHONE .. on the airplane even... and get those people into the VIP sections no matter where he went!!

The young man who lived with me and was the field rep here in Fla ..is now working in a top position with Corzine in NJ..he is a young attorney..who is now like my second son!!

( i also live in NJ..a snow bird))

all the people Kerry sent down here worked on Corzines campaign AS WELL....and hubby and i were asked to go to Corzines innaugeration with the young man who was Kerry's field rep that lived with us..as his surrogate parents!..Quite an Honor for us..

he comes and stays with us when we are up north for the summer..

I am so proud of him..he really has a top job ( but i forget the official name of it) for Governor Corzine.

anyway..the rally i was speaking of was the Tampa Rally ..when John Kerry jumped up on the railing and jumped over the people to hug and kiss me..the secret service were having a nervous breakdown!!and grabbing at the back of his pants!!

lol..glad you were there!!!

my hubby and i stayed on the street afterwards with all the young kids cheering at all the cars going by ..i never thought my hubby would do that!!

and he went to almost all the rallys with me..but it was out of character for him..but he was that moved!!

43. Honestly, at this point, he's the only one I trust to get to the bottom of this criminal junta.
Kerry knows how these "shadow" or secret government operations work. He knows the players. He dealt with many of them in Iran-Contra.

It's a shame that we don't have more Senators willing to take a firmer stand against corruption.

46. I heard part of the braodcast,,,
while out doing errands. Damn near drove off the road with anger. Dodging questions, rewording what 'the offcial record says, or what we think it says'. Typical of the last 7 years. He said he was only critiquing what the CIA found. Yes but THEY used your critique, didn't THEY? You were doing it for a specific reason, werent you? Damn I'm still pissed!

It was a good show. I'm glad I watched even though Imus is a jerk. I love the "tough guy" Kerry the best.

In Ohio.

Something like that.
It was a comment that the Newsweek guy made about Kerry before Kerry was on the program.

68. exactly!
just a swing of 50 thousand votes roughly would've put an END to Iraq by now. Sickening.. to know that the criminal (yes, he's a criminal now, for other reasons, not the one we know he did though) Blackwell, who got STOMPED in the Ohio gubernatorial race against Strickland, did EVERYTHING he could to steal votes away from John and keep as many voting booths out of urban/city districts as possible, while ones in my hometown had 20 booths and 5 or 10 people at them at any one time, while thousands stood in line (and walked away for time constraints or exhaustion) to vote in larger areas!

Crooked bastards...

65. Someone is missing the boat bigtime on the Feith intelligence lies
The dismembering of this administration is exactly what needs to be done so the guilty parties can be properly dealt with. Democracy and all that rot, I heard that, this is what America was all about? -- or can this be non-applicable to the Bush cabal??
