8. I agree with you.... Now if you were able check both boxes... |
|
They are very talented and political, so there is no good answer in the choices that they give you to check.

5. Would the Grammys compromise themselves to make a political statement? |
|
I don't know much about that organization, but the Country Music Association ignored them, which seems to be politically based. Their new album was a true work of art, in my opinion. It was very well done and I think they deserved their awards.

22. Being a big country music fan I'm usually disappointed with Grammy choices. |
|
This time I think they got it right musically & politically and the MSNBC poll is bullshit.

6. LOL. Idiotic MSNBC poll |
|
Here's another example:
"Is Bush:
a) The greatest president of our time b) A misunderstood incredibly competent president who history will praise"
Well, which is it???

10. The question should be: |
|
Was it because the Grammys wanted to bash Bush too or were they standing up for the rights of artists to free speech?

The Dixie Chicks won all five categories in which they were nominated at the Grammy's- more than any other artist. Was the Chicks' big night a reflection of their talent, or in response to the uproar over their political statements? * 2302 responses It was all about the music. 41% It was all about politics. 59% Not a scientific survey. Is MSNBC all about profit? Or is it all about covering the news?

I would ASSUME that they won their (well-deserved) GRAMMYS because of their music, NOT because they got all "uppity" about "Dear Leader" and his illegal "war" in Iraq back when it was difficult if not impossible to find much support for their point of view (which has clearly been validated). Of course, I'm sure MSRNC couldn't help but feel compelled to take a "swipe" at them (with this poll) and their resurgent success IN SPITE of their politics and their refusal to just "shut up and sing"! :yourock:

17. Screw the poll. It was, however, an interesting evening for the Dixie Chicks. |
|
They clearly have a new fan base.
And the performance they gave? Powerful!

21. If the awards were political, it would indicate that their music was |
|
lacking.
On the contrary, the Chicks, who already have numerous previous awards, have brought out the best album and several of the best songs in their long career with "Taking the Long Way".
It's the music. If the music was crap, they might be cheered by audiences for the political stand, but they would not have gotten the awards. The music is extraordinary, and easily deserving of the Grammys they won.
