Ed Schultz fans: He's coming back to XM167 next week
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 02:32 PM by ginnyinWI
Next Monday, Feb. 19, XM will start broadcasting his whole show again, live, taking over Franken's old spot on XM167 Air America. (Right now they are playing just the first hour on XM152, and delaying it for four hours.)

The new time will be 12-3p.m. Eastern.

5. I do think he's more interesting than Franken, though.
I like it when he has Sens and Reps on to talk, while Franken had mainly journalists, and the same lineup every week. And he takes more calls from listeners than Franken. But I get bored with his ramblings, especially when not about politics. So I don't know if I'll be a regular listener.

10. He does no research, he rants on good people, never apologizes...
when called on his stuff. He used right wing talking points regularly then immedidately switched off to please the left with something.

He is trying to be like Rush Limbaugh.

12. I don't fish or hunt.
I tune in to the radio to get information, not to hear about his boats or his fishing trips, sports (unless it has some redeeming value other than "My team is better than your team" or "who do you like in this weeks game caller?" ) or any of his other small town gossipy type stories. I want information or laughs (Gotta have a bit of Steph for that) not "folksy" political talk. to each their own, he's just not my cup of tea. I would bet he plays well in the midwest where he is from, and to men, but he bores the hell out of this east coaster. YMMV.

9. The sad thing is, many of the people who don't "culturally identify" with Ed Schultz
enough to tune out his show...

...ALSO refuse to listen to Pacifica on stations like WPFW because they don't "culturally identify" with outspoken MINORITY liberal broadcasters either. It's a proven statistic.

Mainstream liberals who prefer "studious sounding progressive hosts" will always say:

"those shows are nice, but they really appeal to a DIFFERENT AUDIENCE..."

(i.e. blacks, or working class whites)

never mind that the politics are the same: they have the wrong tone and their audience is not assumed to be just like them, whereas people listen to Randi and Hartmann and Sam Seder and they feel "at home", they feel that they are being talked to by "one of their peers" and confident in the signals that the show gives out that are not welcome to people outside their peer group, because they don't want their favorite hosts to bend over appealing to people who don't share their brand of middle-class left liberalism.

11. If I want to hear right wing radio....I can turn on any channel locally.
It's there, all their hatred. Churches have bought out many stations, and I can get a sermon anywhere anytime.

I listen to AAR because I already know the right wing's side...I have heard it for 6 damn years.

14. Count me an another XM owner who absolutely hates to listen to
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 06:36 PM by Democrat 4 Ever
Ed Shultz. He can take longer and is louder to say nothing more than anyone I ever heard. Tempest in a teapot with a lot less to show for the effort.

Don't expect it to do much good but I am complaining to XM radio. I want AAR and Hartmann and not some poor substitute.

If you own XM and aren't pleased with this decision be sure and let them know. 1-800-967-2346

I'm on the line right now raising hell. Join me!

EDIT - Just got off the phone with XM and they didn't give me a really good answer about why Schultz is in the Hartmann time slot. They are going to call me back to see if they can get the straight "skinny" on why they are putting Schultz in the place of Hartmann. I filed an official complaint. Hope it works.

Double Edit - Sorry Schultz fans - but I can't stand the thoughts of three hours of Ed everyday.

15. I just got off the phone after waiting 10 minutes..
then got someone who could barely speak English. It took another 20 minutes at least to explain it to him.

If you don't call, we don't matter. Apparently the Schultz fans had a big call in about it, and we did not even know about it.

He put the complaint on my file to be sent to whomever...

Apparently our guys don't care enough to fight for Hartmann.

17. Actually, I pretty sure that Mike is coming back, in as well as Ed.
They just haven't worked out all the final details yet, but it's very likely that Malloy is coming to XM 167.

If you have a problem you can't resolve online, please call 1-800-967-2346 during the following business hours:
Monday-Saturday 6 AM-2 AM ET
Sunday 8 AM-8 PM ET

I called, and feel like I vague stuff. They tried to say AAR was putting Schultz on...I said no it has been advertised that it is Hartmann. I said only XM is doing it.
