4. The total number of members is of unknown significance.
How many members have posted at least 20 posts within the past ten months?

7. And Who Would Run It???
100,000 owners = 100,000 headaches.

Now what do you get for the 4.6 million? What assets does the network have? They don't own studios or stations, just debt. That's money that doesn't even go to keeping the network on the air, but to pay off creditors. Add another million for the payroll and other expenses to keep the network running as it is...and then hope there's some advertising that drops in your lap.

From one whose been there, save your money and buy an IPOD.

12. I Could Show Ya How To Do It With Far Less...
Between over-the-air and online, there are ways to take that money and invest in something that doesn't have the debt or "history". The fact that AAR had to go to auction spells out how much of a mess things had gotten there.

It's never been easier to build and operate radio stations...unfortunately a lot of the talent that could run such operations are "selling shoes" now.

9. That's how many people have ever signed up.
Now subtract the people have left for one reason or another, and then all the people who have been tombstoned. And then find some way to figure out how many sock-puppet accounts there are, and subtract those too. And then there are all the troll accounts. I doubt they'll donate.

That leaves how many active DUers?

15. A sock-puppet is a dupe account
that someone has.
You generally see them when someone has an agenda.
For example....someone starts something and always has the same person/people coming to their rescue EVERY TIME.

16. So they post in various accounts depending on whatever
persona they are adopting?

Not that I'm interested in doing it, just curious technically: That's not possible with just one computers is it? Doesn't that require multiple IPs?

20. I don't want people using sock puppets so I won't tell you how they do it
I will say however that it would be extremely easy for someone to do, it doesn't even require any real technical abilities. Fortunately I don't think there are too many people who abuse the system in this way, and lets hope it stays that way.
