I think Edwards won the Debate....What do you guys think? |
|
I thought Edwards came off very strong concerning honesty, and candor. I felt like he really hit a home run tonight!

1. Edwards is first choice for me, but I liked Biden as well, and the whole pack did |
|
a pretty respectable job of establishing themselves as potential presidents. It was as if they felt the wind changing from the sleepy summertime into the brisker fall air.
The polling is really going to start to hum now.
We're 3 1/2 months to the first vote for our next president. Odds are good that that person was on the tv screen tonight.

2. He had the best answer to the "favorite Bible verse" question: |
|
"whatsoever you do to the least of these, you do to me."
The others sounded like they were sort-of familiar with the Bible, or more properly, chunks of it.

chap 7 verse 12
and ye will know-it that you are my Fav because there will be a sign in the form of a Bay Air and the Bay Air shall say "Be the not afraid and know that Cheese Curds and a Sunset over Gull Bay are signs of God's love."
BTW John Edwards really understands what "that you do to the least of people you do to me to." rough quote

4. Edwards was strong tonight.... and he put Hillary on the defensive, which is good |
|
I thought he bested her on the Iraq and Iran questions.
Edwards also fought back at Timmy's attempt to revive the $400 haircuts, house and hedge funds.
Timmy is such a superficial hack.

11. How did Edwards reflect off "the haircut"? |
|
I saw his ad a couple of months ago on the haircut and it was awesome!
Showing things we should be caring about instead of haircuts! BRilliant!

She endorsed Clinton :argh:
I see that endorsement as political payback for the speaking slot she got at the convention in 2000.

10. Edwards stood out for me. |
|
He seemed to be taking the game directly to Hillary, and really attempted to feature the differences between the two. His whole thing about Hillary not learning the lessons from her IRW vote was RIGHT ON. I was so very glad to see several of the candidates bring up that vote, and I could kiss Gravel for his spanking of Hillary and Barrack.
Of the three current front runners , Edwards is the only one I am even looking at.
I also thought Dodd and Biden brought a lot to the table, while Richardson and Barrack seemed to be fading. Hillary was positively nauseating.

Two "lightning-rounds" worth of time, back-to-back (60+ seconds), and he can't come up with a better reason for the hedge funds and the $400 haircuts than "I used to be poor, so I don't apologize for being rich now?" Really? Do you not expect that question to come up over and over again? You can't come up with anything better than that? It's probably the truth, but when you take 60 seconds to respond to something like that, sounding at least a little bit flustered, you might want to come up with a more "presentable" answer.
He lost it right there for me. I'm big on not nominating another candidate who gets taken down by these silly sorts of things. Because that's ALL the Republicans are going to run on. "You don't want to vote for that guy, do you?" "He gets $400 haircuts!" Or, "he wind-surfs! Or, "he thinks he invented the internet, haha, what an idiot!"
And Edwards apparently still hasn't figured out how to shoulder off those sorts of attacks. I'm not into watching another of our candidate lose because of petty crapy like that, because they apparently have zero clue how to handle attacks like that.
Remember when Russert tried to "get" Hillary with that trick question about torture, where she was set up to disagree with her husband without knowing he made the statement? That's a perfect example of how you deal with those sorts of surprise attacks. That's why the Clinton's have been attacked for a decade, and they're still going strong.

I'm basically interested in a candidate that is strong enough to weather those sorts of silly attacks that will inevitably be launched against them.
Maybe you want to watch another election lost because the American public is scared away from voting for our candidate because of something stupid like wind surfing, but I'm tired of that crap.
If you aren't strong enough or smart enough to figure out a way to combat those sort of attacks, your ass ain't gonna win the presidency, hence I don't want you wasting the space beside the (D) as our Democratic nominee.
I want someone that can WIN.

I personally don't care if a candidate wins if WE LOSE. Hillary is a loss no matter how she does in the election.
Winning isn't all there is, as we've seen from the 110th Congress. You need to have the right people win.

|
to be Bill. This was her worst Debate.Barrack slammed her good as did Biden on not being able to pass legislation and carrying too much baggage from the Clinton years. Her vote today came back to bite her and it will hurt her big time later on.I think Biden and Edwards stood out.
