I'm going to my first DFA meetup tonight! I have a couple questions. |
|
I'm excited! The group has 152 members according to the website, but surely not all of them will show up, right? If you go to DFA meetups, how many people normally show up to yours? What do you do at yours? I don't know anybody who is going, is it easy to meet people there, or am I going to sit, watch the regulars do what they do, and leave?

1. Most of the members won't be there. |

In my experience you'll probably have 30-40 peaople depending on the location.
It will be easy to meet new people. They're friendly, and mostly activists. You'll enjoy it and make new friends.
I haven't been to a meeting in about a year. Long drive, and a lotta campaign work.

campaign season.
Some days we do inside baseball, some times we do training, sometimes we do candidate development. We have a governor's race this year so we are building up to that. What we do is decide on what candidates we want to activily support. We furnish bodies, money, and expertise to the campaigns. We did a very good radio spot that may have helped to put a candidate over the top. The radio spot caused the target of the ad to over react in an ugly way. The stuck pig squeals.
We do a picnic called the "Not So Fancy Farm" where candidates come to speak and eat BBQ. They also lobby us for volunteers. This past year we had Wesley Clark. He was great.
Our mission is to find, develop, and support progressive candidates.
