Here's the story:
http://www.nj.com/news/expresstimes/nj/index.ssf?/base/news-6/119095410323330.xml&coll=2The St. Cloud Hotel is one of the places where the county and state put homeless people in this area. Before this fire took place, we were already at crisis conditions for available space versus the number of homeless in this county. Now, with this hotel destroyed, things are unbelievably bad.
I spoke to a friend of mine today, seeing if there was a way I could bring one person into my home. I don't have much, but my apartment has room. She is going to check and see if there is someone(non-alcohol and drug abuse issues. My stipulation.) who would be appropriate for a short period. Then I have to get permission from my landlord.
But I would like to do more.
Can anyone think of something that DU, as a group, can do? We are talking about 30-40 people who now have nowhere to live.
