Republicans uses 9/11 as an excuse for virtually everything. I wouldn't be surprised if their kids tell them "give me a PS3 for Christmas or the terrorists win!"

1. That 9/11 made a quagmire in Iraq acceptable
What they said in response to Cheney saying that invading Iraq would be a quagmire in 1994.

3. I'll go for the classic "9-11 changed everything."
That line will get a LOT of mileage from hereonin in order to transition from a democracy/republic to a fascist state.

4. Any online
bank or website that needs you to register with an eight-or-more digit case-sensitive combination of letters and numbers, PLUS a password using said combination, AND a PIN number, citing so-called, "security reasons".

5. "More people die from X than those lost on 9/11"
not sure what all they mean except 'we passed a lot of new laws after 9/11 to stop it, so let's ban smoking/drinking/driving except for work/eating poorly/etc'

6. I think that is used more to emphasis that although 9/11/01 was
a very horrendous day, with people dying and lots of emotional crap going on, that everything crappy that has happened since (rights removal, countries invaded, etc etc) does not balance out the 3000 people who died, if you look at how many people die from other things all the time. In other words, 9/11 has been used as an excuse for so much bad stuff, but only 3000 people died (yes, friends died and I was/am traumatized) where many people are dying all the time.

7. Couldn't link it now, but I remember some securities law change
proposed in 2002 - I remember laughing about it, is was so ludicrous. Whoever wanted the change cited 911.

For a while I kept a journal of the "most outrageous references to 911." In 2002, it buttressed just about everything.

In fact, it was a while before any public gathering could go without a reference to it. My niece's confirmation in 2002 included the Bishop talking about it. Any seminar or meeting you'd go to, someone would work it in.

Now it's faded a bit, and left to repuklicans.

13. This is my key chain-

I belong to a Federal Credit Union so most of my bank's locations are on government property. Ten months after I started using this, and about a dozen trips to the bank later, I had somebody tell me when I was going through a metal detector that I couldn't bring it in. This struck me as odd because it had never been an issue before. I asked if I could leave it there while I ran up to the bank and was given a lecture about how dare I bring a dangerous weapon on government property post 9/11. In what admittedly wasn't the smartest move on my part I let him know how long I've owned it, how any times I brought it there, and said if my wanting to stay well groomed was such a threat to national security (yes he actually called me a threat to national security :eyes: ) then they need to fire all of their security and start from scratch. Another guard who I was more familiar with, and who has a crush on my mom, walked up to us and said, "Jessie, what's going on here?" Then the over zealous guy got red, started stuttering, and mumbled something about me just wanting to file my nails.

I had a similar incident with an MBTA employee and I've read other stories in the news like this.
