After watching PBS "The War", after watching the last 7 years unfold, |
|
the distinction between the common cause, alignment, courage and great leadership (and of course horrors through such incredible loss) that our country experienced back then, when contrasted with the pettiness, greed, vacant leadership, polarization and lack of common cause and alignment that we are now seeing - sprinkled with the plethora of trash TV, non stop informertials....and the transparent corruption of our current misadministration......coupled with the seeming inability to change course - just makes me shake my head in wonder.
I have to admit to great fatigue and the increasing tendency to just withdraw and find a safe place to maintain my sanity. If the way that we rallied around the War in the 1940's was a high point for our culture, we must be experiencing either a steep temporary, or permanent, decline. As a long time optimist, I have to admit to being severely tested these days.

1. It was a great series. It made me think about war......... |
|
and now I have the belief that war is not caused so much by a few aggressive leaders but is allowed by the meek, inattentive and supportive populaces.

3. Hi point in our culture |

I suspect that 120,000 Japanese Americans and several million Black Americans would disagree with your statement.
