I was never a big fan of the Roman/Greek wars - |
|
Pretty much if it didn't start with America did what ever... I didn't care.
If you go to grad school - particularly with a military academy - that is where they start. Like I said, I still don't like it - but I understand it.
Flat out - the neo cons do base their strategy on the Peloponnesian war -they just fucking do. They don't even deny it. And I am telling you straight - they did NOT read the book all the way through - honest to god.
My god, if they are right it turns into a war with the Persians (PRESENT DAY IRAN) then Athens gets burned to the ground - thats if they are right!!!
Frankly - Sparta doesn't do too well in the end anyway!!
So you wonder - which side you neo cons on? Sparta gets screwed - Athens gets burned to the ground - how you idiots figure we win??? Truly you are a GW Bsh type student - C-s all around for you people.
Come on Mr Gore, you know better!!

2. Somewhere in GIBBON, can't find the quote again, he says that the citizens of Rome |
|
were O.K. with disconnecting from whatever far away wars the emperors were running, so long as they had their own needs met inside the city. Hence, "bread & circuses."
