Congressman Tom Cole's (R-OK) office just called for Dr. DemoTex. |
|
I was told that they want to give Dr. D. the Republican National Committee's "highest" award. I refrained from comment, and gave them Dr. D's office number. I can't imagine what this is about, but I think they are barking up the wrong tree. I'm sure Dr. D. will be polite before telling them where to put their award.

1. Their highest award is "Donor". |
|
It's a standard scam- they hold small, local "award dinners" and hand out "award certificates"...for $500 a pop.

4. I figured it was a fund raising scam. |
|
They will get an earful if they ever get hold of Dr. D.

2. My wife got the same call at her office. |
|
When I was in solo practice a few years ago, I got a similar call. I was told that as an added bonus, President Dumbass would be there. The woman on the phone seemed genuinely exicted by the prospect. After briefly wondering how close I would get, I told her that there was nothing attractive about the prospect of paying to eat with Cole or Bush.

3. As a former business owner I got a call like that a few years ago. |
|
I was told I'd be able to attend a dinner with "the president." I told them I'd be happy to donate five hundred smackers for a chance to shake hands with president KERRY. She hung up on me.

6. My boss gets those type of calls as a small business owner |
|
Usually asking him to sit on some committee. Which is amusing because he is a liberal-progressive-anti-war-fuckBushandCheney type of a guy.
Yes....I love my job.

Democratic, was called to be presented with this bogus award.
Of course he did not return the call. He was puzzled at how his number was accessed by the slimy repubs.
It's funny because he is very private, has a few close friends, and writes articles at home.

8. Yeah, it's kind of funny |
|
But for any of us who ever wonder why so many small businesspeople vote against their own interests and keep returning Republicans to office, here's part of the reason why.
For every hang up call, every "not in a million years" call, every "drop dead, singly or collectively" call they make, there's one call that reaches some status-hungry moneygrubber who's happy to fork over $500 and raise another thousand from his equally vain pals.
Just sayin'.
