Poll question: Have you ever been contacted by a political pollster? |
|
A recent comment in another thread, 'who are these people who get polled? I've never ben polled!', inspired this poll.

Oddly enough, I'm one of those Hillary supporters that no one on DU seems to know.

3. I always ask 'Who is paying for this poll?" |
|
If the answer is ambiguous, end of conversation. If answer seems forthright, the conversation may go on. Sometimes, I will answer accurately. Sometimes I will mess with their minds or keep them on as long as possible so they won't be able to call someone who may be naive about polls right away.
The latter strategy is usually reserved for election day/evening push polls. Pollsters ASSUME all voters in my area are GOP voters with blinders on. I love to keep election day push poll callers on the phone as long as possible.

8. The response you will get first is the name of the polling company or call service |
|
Whoever is actually PAYING the callers. Go beyond that. INSIST. If they don't/can't tell you, well, that tells you something, doesn't it? ;)
Your time is valuable. Use it wisely. Don't let them use it for their own purposes.
And if some candidate sends you a postage paid envelope for a donation, think about whether they are worth a couple bucks just so you end up on their mailing lists and get their newsletters/action alerts to give you a heads up you can pass along . If that possible info is of no use/interest and you don't like their candidate... weight that envelope down with junk mail (your address carefully removed) and send it back on their dime.
Yeah, I have gotten mean in my old age. But that latter trick is one helluva stress reliever! :D
