On edit -- after seeing other comments I agree there is no need for providing Faux Nothing ammo, but it still grates on me.

We have too much worry over "decorum" regarding politicians. Maybe it is because we don't have royalty, but in our country, we should be over that!

Newt Gingrich stood and applauded Clinton while he was impeaching him.

And I was 1 when Nixon resigned so leave me alone on that one.

78. Look ...
I'm not going to play games with you.

Here's your most recent rejoinder (if you want to call it that):

Well your question is quite simplistic and ignorant
I thought you might not know about the traditions of our government. High degree of decorum and all that.

You also asked how long I've lived here and implied that anyone not a citizen is unreasonable. That was debunked because I'm also from here. You continue to insinuate that my asking a simple question was egregious. It was not. It is my right, as a citizen (since that seems to be your concern), to ask such a question. The question in the lead post was not uncivil. Then you respond with straw men questions implying that my question was meant to out Pelosi as a Rovian agent, a sell out, and other some such nonsense.

My thoughts on the matter, regardless of how you wish to misrepresent them, is that it is time for us not to be so polite. We've been polite for six years. This world is 5 minutes from ceasing to exist as we know it, metaphorically speaking. In other words, there's a time to be nice and then there's a time to get up and fight to defend this great nation of ours and to show the world that we are in opposition to this president and his failed policies.

Webb did an excellent job with that. I'll give credit where credit is due. However, Pelosi and everyone else that applauded almost everything that the Moron said, didn't leave me with much confidence that they mean business.

Did I spell it out enough for you or are you going to continue with your antics?

yep, all I care about is that they had the audacity to clap during a SOTU. :sarcasm:

93. Look up the definition of straw man.
Then get back to me.

I asked a simple question.

Then discussants equate that with me calling for her head, calling her a "Rovian agent" a "GOP plant."

That, my friend, is the very definition of a straw man.

I.E. your contention that Pelosi clapping is a big deal.

I asked a question.

"Why is Pelosi clapping?

Seriously, I want to know!"

That's exactly what I said in the lead post.

Now, people have responded with insinuations of me calling her a Rovian agent, a GOP plant, and a sell out.

THAT'S the very definition of a strawman.

A straw man argument is a logical fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is to create a position that is easy to refute, then attribute that position to the opponent. A straw-man argument can be a successful rhetorical technique (that is, it may succeed in persuading people) but it is in fact misleading, because the opponent's actual argument has not been refuted.

Who misrepresented who's position? My asking a simple and civil question? Or those that seemed suggesting that I called for her head, called her a Rovian agent, a GOP plant, and a sell out.

Hmmm? Can you answer that?

... at almost everything the Moron said. That IS my right to ask such things, no?

Nowhere, nowhere, did I insinuate that Pelosi is a Rovian agent.

You're being disingenuous. You couldn't even spot the obvious straw man. Rovian agent? Come the fuck on. :wtf:

Toodles.

at a speech. God forbid if the woman who is third in line to the presidency shows any protocol and decorum. :eyes:

I care about the job she's done in the first 100 hours and what she will do in the future. I don't give a rat's ass about her clapping for a stupid speech that will be forgotten in a day.

There are more important things to worry about than her and other dems clapping during a speech.

This conversation is a waste of my time. Enjoy whining about Pelosi's clapping. I have no doubt you'll find others to justify your POV.

Buh-bye
