10.  Al Gore this is what you want THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET this time.
This time we know and understand whats going on.

RUN AL RUN!!!

Al Gore...

"First, we should complete hand counts already begun in Palm Beach County, Dade County and Broward County to determine the true intentions of the voters based on an objective evaluation of their ballots. Observers and participants from both parties should be present in every counting room, as required under Florida law. The results of this recount would, of course, be added to the present certified vote total and the overseas absentee vote total. If this happens, I will abide by the result, I will take no legal action to challenge the result, and I will not support any legal action to challenge the result. I am also prepared, if Governor Bush prefers, to include in this recount all the counties in the entire state of Florida. I would also be willing to abide by that result and agree not to take any legal action to challenge that result. If there are no further interruptions to the process, we believe the count can be completed with seven days of the time it starts"

according to all of the DUers who attacked me on Wednesday night, Al Gore has done all he needs to do and, further, any suggestion that he should run for President, is just distracting from his 'true calling' as private citizen Gore speaking out against Global Warming.

And, while I tried to explain that I thought he could do much more, for Global Warming and a whole lot of other things that need attending to (to save us from WWII comes to mind), as President of the USA vs Citizen Gore, I was called virtually every name in the book.

At this point, even were Gore to run, I don't know if I could work with (as I have every state/national election since 1972) those same Gore apologists who attacked me so readily for suggesting it might be in the country's/world's best interest for him to run. They reminded me of the arrogant, self-righteous, Northeast Dukakis bunch, sent out here, who screwed up Dukakis' chances royally.

Who have a FINANCIAL VESTED interest in keeping Gore out of the race and attacking ANYONE who dares to suggest that their candidate is no what they appear to be, be it a progressive, inevitable or the second coming of RFK.

There are also people who are emotionally invested in a candidate and, as such, react in the same way, as they know a Gore entry will all but the end the entire process, as he would be the immediate front runner. Those people may honestly believe that their person is the best person for the job (although I can't imagine how).

who have now infested both the Dem and Rep parties---detest a Gore run.

He has been out of the loop for a while. He's not owned by anyone. 90
percent of the Dem and Rep candiates are owned by many. Their power
and status is now dependent on being owned. As the corporations have
tightened their choke hold around the politicians, Gore has been out of
DC--escaping the suffocation.

Those who are in power now understand that Gore would likely break up
this game that has been making politicians and corporations rich, powerful
and greedy beyond their wildest dreams.

Gore is a powerful threat. He threatens the status quo and he'd be breaking
up corruption that certainly "We The People" do not want. Political powerbrokers
only keep the game going if it's under the table. Gore would certainly bring
this madness out into the open, as he obliterates it.

These people manipulate election results, and they use extortion, threats
and bribes to silence their enemies--and keep their own crimes undercover.

I think people do need to keep in mind that there are troublemakers afoot
and those who are paid (yes paid) to prop up certain candidates and throw
cold water on a Gore nomination.

That poll is of Kos readers only. I'd love to have the opportunity to work for Gore and would vote enthusiastically for him.

It was born out of Howard Dean's campaign and has nothing to do with Kos. Hell, I'm not even a Kos reader, yet I and many of my non-Kos friends and family participated in that poll.

Over 46 thousand people have responded.. and you have to enter a valid email address. I think it's going to prove to be a fairly accurate representation of the current Democratic voters.

18. We are activist, we are hard core Dems. We are not the main stream of
the party. We like the progressive candidates. Hillary is too conservative for the average DFA member, but we will be phone banking and precinct walking for Hillary if she wins the nod.

Check out our Change For Kentucky site below. The Ky chapter has been too busy with helping the Dem ticket win this fall. We will have a Dem governor. Until the polls close Nov 6, we won't even worry about the 2008 election.

The man we supported in the Dem primaries didn't win, but we are working hard for the nominee and some down ticket races. The DFA is very well represented in the Ky Dem party.

"We are not the main stream of the party. We like the progressive candidates. Hillary is too conservative for the average DFA member, but we will be phone banking and precinct walking for Hillary if she wins the nod."

I can't tell you how depressing and discouraging it is to actually hear progressives say they'll stay home rather than vote for Clinton. That is defeatist in the extreme, and, unless they live in a very blue state, is just one more vote for a republican. In a Clinton / Giuliani comparison, I can't fathom how anyone can think she'd be worse. Or even comparable. Corporatist or not, Giuliani would be disastrous and we'd never recover.

And it isn't fair to Al Gore if people are going there and writing him three times in a row, or even doing it with someone else's name. That means the totals noted are not truly representative of one man one vote. I then don't place much credence in them.

It still only records your #1 choice.

It has every protection from multiple voting you can add to an online poll, including entering a valid email to record a vote and not allowing a return to the poll page once you've hit submit.

and it will negate your previous vote. So you still only get one vote, but can change your mind/vote right up unitl November 5.

I'm not sure why they're gathering choices #2 and #3, unless they're going to show those alternate choices when all is said and done.

98. Her mind, and I am not against restoring him for your information...
I am however a supporter of his who believes his words and is in agreement with him that it is now crucial he use his global status as a Nobel Prize winner to be able to freely bring about changes on a global scale which he can through his organizations and influencing governments and businesses worldwide which we will not have a political tipping point without. This isn't just about polls and ads and appeasing your own excitement quotient at his expense. I am not here because I hate another candidate more than I love him as it seems many here are and is the reason for these votes. So to me this already emulates what we woild see in the media and on blogs which is not about issues but grudge matches.

But how superior some of you must feel to pile on others (even those who say they are ignoring you but really don't) who don't fall for the Internet poll games played. If you think he is going to be swayed on such a momentous serious and difficult decision by a poll or a soundbite tv ad that only exacerbates the point he made about what is trivial about this system, then you haven't been paying attention to him. So pardon me if I am now beginning to wonder why some are pushing him so hard here. Is it because you support him, or because you hate someone else more?

I have supported the man for about twenty years now and been a part of every political campaign he ever ran. I now believe that at this particular time what he is doing now is most urgent for the global community and am in agreement with his own words regarding it. However, a decision like that has to be made from HIS HEART for the right reasons, not because a bunch of people e-mailed their lists and contacts to come bump up an Internet poll. I am not against anything he truly wishes to do in his heart and soul. And yes, I am against blatant manipulation of circumstances through using his Nobel Prize and successes while treating his other work as meaningless unless he can be forced to acquiesce to everyone else's wishes. If you don't happen to like me for that well, too damn bad.

50. You know what's interesting with that...
I started dropping out some of the candidates - Gravel, Dodd, Kucinich, Biden, even Hillary.

As I did so, Al gained some - mostly after dropping Kucinich - but then with each candidate I dropped, John Edwards started pulling ahead and became the clear winner. Obama seemed to get little bump at all.
So it seems that Edwards is at least second on many, many people's lists.

I couldn't get the state-by-state stats to work. :-(

If you eliminate everyone except Gore and Hillary, these are the results (at 6:45PM ET on 10/20/07)

Former Senator Al Gore 56.99%
Senator Hillary Clinton 43.01%

Remove Gore and Edwards gets the top spot, followed by Obama.

Former Senator John Edwards 33.46%
Senator Barack Obama 24.05%

Remove Hillary and Gore is first, but Edwards is only 3 points behind.

Former Senator Al Gore 29.49%
Former Senator John Edwards 26.17%

Remove Edwards and Gore remains first, but Obama is only 5 points behind.

Former Senator Al Gore 30.15%
Senator Barack Obama 25.14%

And finally ... if you remove Gore, Edwards and Obama ... KUCINICH is first with Hillary about 8 points behind! :wow:

Representative Dennis Kucinich 36.02%
Senator Hillary Clinton 28.39%

I know none of this means anything because the media will never report these numbers or alter their coverage of the candidates, but I think it's interesting that the grassroots choices don't even come close to the "mainstream" polls. It makes you wonder what the polls would look like if the MSM gave EQUAL coverage to ALL the candidates. :-(

111. Good God
Go look at Zogby polls if you think all of the pollsters (the same ones who predicted the massive Dem sweep in 06) are in on some conspiracy. Zogby is a Democrat, and he isn't MSM. His polls show the same thing as everyone else. Hillary leads nationally, and is the leader in most states. Here is a quote from him

"Hillary Rodham Clinton - She is clearly the frontrunner"

I think (and hope) she may not get the nomination, but it would be ridiculous to claim she has little real support from actual everyday, primary-voting Dems. Just because I don't like her candidacy is no reason to ignore the fact that she is the frontrunner.

Edited on Sun Oct-21-07 02:58 AM by Mark D.
Someone should make them. Start a website. Shit, I'm
going to Google now to see if there is one. Of course
I realize Googling that will put me on a terror watch
list along with vegans, conservationists, etc. Ah, so
what. Heh. Seriously. I am shocked so few on DU've
been driving this point. I heard one say Gore & also
Feingold. I respect that, Russ would be great also,
but clearly indicated he wants to stay where he is.
Gore hasn't, he's still not 100% sure. I say if he
wasn't going to run, he'd have sid it for certain.
This means he's still testing the waters and also
is likely truly undecided. But I hope he will run.

Edwards/Obama as VP won't be bad tho. Even if
they're not for single-payer for reasons they fail
to explain EVERY TIME Dennis calls them out on it.
If Gore ran the show, he'd be calling the shots &
he can simply use the resolution Dennis presented
long ago to try and get single-payer care. For the
love of God. It's there, and it addresses that best.

So ... she voted for Gore. Kucinich was her second choice. I asked her for a third and she said, "No one else appeals to me" - and that's exactly how she submitted it:

1) (Other) Al Gore
2) Dennis Kucinich
3) (Other) No one else appeals to me.
