With Respect to the Stark "Controversy"
I find it tragic that people find what Mr. Stark said more offensive than the criminal endeavor to which he was referring. Odd times, indeed, when mere words and hurt feelings take precedence over bullets and body-bags.

2. Especially
when you consider some of the disgusting rhetoric justifying those body bags and bullets for the last 5 years.

3. It's like condemning a 911-caller for swearing ... and ignoring the crime being reported.
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 06:01 PM by TahitiNut
It's really amazingly brain-damaged. Those too corrupt or cowardly to stand up against the crimes of this regime eagerly condemn those who speak out. Fucking disgusting.

i just wanted to point out to you that the rnc does not use that star- one point up- the sign of man- they use the star with 2 points up- the classic sign of the goat- satan- also female to the one point male. just an interesting little tidbit.

4. Right you are!
There are still people too freakin' scared of their own shadows. "Oh, my, he said something bad! We must kick him out of our Sunday afternoon tea party! What if the other side gets MAD at us? Ooooooooh, nooooooooo!"

Sheesh. :banghead:

6. Absolutely! The man was truthful and has said nothing to
for which he should apologize. It is a shame that the RW is willfully protecting this racketeering war criminal and his sidekick, and that Dems are willing to back down when the RW sez "Boo!."

8. I gotta say
I find that to be a completely pointless comparison. First of all, who finds what Rep. Stark said more offensive than the war? Anyone here? Any dems you can point to? (forget the repukes)

It's a straw man argument.

10. And it is an assumption on your part...
to think that I am talking specifically about Dems. But, since we are on the subject, Pelosi for one.

11. But see, that's my point
You can't possibly state as a fact that Pelosi cares more about what Stark said, than about the war.

17. No, I can't possibly know what's going on inside Pelosi's head.
And neither can you - but actions (or lack thereof) certainly do speak louder than words.

However, here is what you posted: " I find that to be a completely pointless comparison. First of all, who finds what Rep. Stark said more offensive than the war? Anyone here? Any dems you can point to? (forget the repukes)

It's a straw man argument."

Your assumption was that I was asserting that democrats were more offended by Stark's comments than by the war, and so you charged me with committing the strawman fallacy as a consequence. Techincally, even if you were correct in your assumption it would not be a strawman fallacy as I am not rebutting an argument at all. Rather, you could of just asserted that I was incorrect in my reasoning (again, if what you assumed was true).

However, no where did I state or imply in the OP that I thought that Dems (and only dems) were more upset by Stark's comments than by the war. For clarification, I do not think that Dems and only Dems are more upset by Stark's comments than by the war.

9. As long as Stark stand his ground and does not apologize the whole thing will go away in a few days
If he apologizes, that will be capitulation and a sign of weakness, and the Right will just beat up on him some more. If he stands his ground, the Right will see that he is not a John Kerry/Harry Reid/Dick Durbin, that he is a man of conviction and the "issue" will fade away.

People are looking for a reason to get behind the Dems in Congress. Calling the Chimp out for what he is can only be a good thing.

14. Yes, and let's not forget this was during a vote about providing children with health care.
All hail the neo-con wars, the ones their relatives and contributors will never fight. Everything for fetuses, nothing for living persons. How morally bankrupt is that?

15. Mere words? Never.
The institutions that form our republic derive their authority from words ... our soldiers die because of words ... let's behave ourselves intelligently as we end this disgraceful chapter in our nation's history. When it's over, congress critters will have to continue criticizing and we want them to address *our* next president politely.
