Pope: "Religions must never become vehicles for hatred," (BBC News)
Too bad U.S. right-wing "Christians" don't follow his advice.

"Religions must never become vehicles for hatred," the Pope told the leaders attending a peace summit in Naples.

7. Persecution of Pagans
during the Roman era.

The burning of the Library of Alexandria and the murder of its scholars.

Giving tacit support to Franco, Mussolini, and Hitler.

2000 years of anti-Semitism.

13. Probably should say which burning of the Alexandria library - I'm sure you mean the one assumed to
have occurred in 391 with order to destroy pagan temples -

I do not believe there is any actual evidence of that assumed burning.

14. And the Catholic Church has NEVER lived any of it down, nor should it.
Its inflated claims to spiritual authority have been compromised forever because of the many times it became a vehicle for hatred.

So I would say the Pope knows from (collective and historical) experience what he's talking about!

12. Like the Spanish Inquisition, oh robed one?
You know we could make a laundry list of the millions who have died at the bloody hands of the church but hey, what's the point? Doesn't seem the rampant hypocrisy has deterred any of your "pro-life" followers.

15. What an ignorant asshole.
Religions have often been vehicles for hatred, and Ratzo and his ilk have been smack in the middle of it.
