Malibu on fire! Round the clock coverage! |
|
The Iraqis should pray for such attention - When Malibu is on fire, which happens almost every year, LA news gives it round the clock coverage. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fire22oct22,0,4878345.story?coll=la-home-center

|
I surfed around the cable news networks and couldn't find any coverage. I've lived through a wildfire evacuation and know how terrifying it can be. My heart goes out to the residents there.

19. I was afraid we were going down this road. I got into |
|
it with people who showed a complete lack of empathy over the people involved in the Lake Tahoe fire this year because they were supposedly nothing but rich people living in vacation homes and they should have known better living in the forest.
It doesn't matter. Losing a home to a fire and being in a panicked situation of having to evacuate a wildfire, especially when it's dark out is terrifying. It doesn't matter whether you're rich or poor and it doesn't deserve to happen to anyone.
The media would be all over this story if large sections of South Central LA were on fire or East LA was on fire or Inglewood was on fire or Compton was on fire.
So let's not exaggerate. I'm familiar with LA news and they cover whatever is breaking.
You know that if you live there.

You've spoken to the news directors at the local stations and they've told you that they cover fires depending on which neighborhoods they occur in. :eyes:
Please, you don't know what you're talking about.

The avatar comes from DU. I'm pretty technologically challenged when it comes to creating avatars. Voyager had some good stories although, I haven't seen it until now that it's showing on Spike TV. My satellite doesn't carry UPN so I missed half of Deep Space Nine, all of Voyager and the one with Scott Blakula that is now on Sci-Fi channel when they first ran, so I'm just catching up. LOL!

27. Next Generation had the best characters although Dax |
|
was a pretty interesting one from Deep Space Nine. I also liked the fact that the federation was interfacing with a civilian world like in real life. There would never have been a Ferengi barkeep on next generation's Enterprise.

other races... the race controled by "the white" and the race that acted on their behalf.

- in the crater of a volcano

Malibu. There's another fire close to where I live which is getting zero coverage. If the Malibu fire is contained, they'll probably start taking an interest in the less glam blazes.

|
. . . and believe me, round the clock coverage is appreciated. I just wish I could get sound on this, no idea why it's not working.
Not everyone who lives in this area is rich, by the way. Some of the communities that are in danger are mobile home parks. Lot's of us live in guest houses and some of the older more fire-prone homes are just a tad above shacks.

You'll probably get sound again when KTLA news goes on the air at 5pm. Right now you are just getting a live feed from their helicopter.

|
this summer.
People saying all of the victims were rich and were only losing vacation homes, so who cares.
That couldn't have been further from the truth.
I hate how socioeconomics is always brought up during wildfires.
It's beyond unfortunate.
