Now I Understand Why The Great Mr. Gore Won't Run
WHY would he want to get involved with this pathetic excuse for an opposition party?

They've probably already told him who they want to win the nomination, and he knows that he'll probably get less done as President, than he could as a political outsider.

The party has left him too, and although I wish it weren't so, he does not see any real benefit to trying to get it back.

but I'm seriously pi$$ed off that Pelosi caved and apologized for Rep. Stark. And even the measure to table Stark's reprimand did get ALL of the Democratic votes.

I'm ready to throw my hands up regarding the Presidential Election next fall - I might stay home on election day if the Dems don't start acting like an opposition party NOW!

16. The Democratic sponsored change in fee hikes
To our postal system has seriously hurt the small company I help run.

But those postal hikes were set up such that Tiem Warner, Life is exempt.

It isn't just the war.

It's that this COngress is part of the beast inside whose belly the rest of us continue to rot.

Why would he want to get involved indeed. We capitulate on every single issue, every single time the GOP raises their disgusting voices.

17. A sense of duty?
Why would anyone enter the military? Why would anyone keep a severely mentally disabled child, or stay in a marriage with an ill spouse?

A sense of duty coupled with the abilities to accomplish what needs to be done, maybe?

9. Perhaps Al is finding life as a private citizen can allow him to do much more than as president
You think we'd have this big of a movement in Global Warming if Gore was trying to fight republicans to get legislation passed on the issue?

12. I believe Al Gore has made the point regarding Global Warming,
as well as any private citizen can, the cat is out of the bag. I don't know what else he can accomplish as a private citizen to wake the people up. I believe the only way he can be assured this critical issue will be addressed in the manner it needs to be is as President of United States.

I just don't see it. So many attributes are being falsely tagged onto him here. Out of respect for his father's legacy, he'd never do it.

24. I think he needs to see a Thom Hartmann style "let's take OVER the party" movement!
A movement significant to overcome the will of these bums! That is what will get him back to wanting to be a part of and lead it. The problem is the chicken before the egg issue. How can we lead all of these lambs out to take charge and get rid of the corporatocracy! A pretty tough challenge at this point when the corporatocracy pretty much controls every point of power in our society!

30. Because Some Of Those Running Are Part Of The Problem
They are willing to go along with the desires of the "party."

Besides, there are those who are in it for the ego rush. If you doubt that Hillary Clinton hasn't felt this was her "destiny" for the past 8 years, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

27. he would get exponentially MORE done as president.
as a "political outsider" he has absolutely no power or authority to institute any kind of policy changes. at this point, he's mostly a spokesperson and fundraiser.

28. They dumped him in early Dec 2000.. I fumed as I watched
a tsunami of rightwingers line up for their turn at the microphones ..so they could trumpet the "Loserman meme"..and how proud they were of their guy, George-man of the people..patiently waiting for the "courts" to decide..

and from the dems?

chirp..chirp..(crickets)... and of course the usual comments about how of course the military should have their votes counted 3 extra times, even if they did not sign it, or if it was mailed in after the election..

and how the dems apologized for being in the race to start with...

Hell...not if they wanted to be taken seriously at all. Very few people buy that crap anymore. The insult even has the ring of a quaint but annoying old crackpot in need of his nap.
