Religious people crack me up... yet scare me at the same time... |
|
I'm not all that religious myself, but I'm not an atheist. I guess I'm agnostic, I dunno. I actually often times "defend" religion if I feel it is being unfairly attacked, but I was browsing some Christian forums today, and woooah. I cannot believe some of the things these people say... Who would have thought that playing games is a sin, or that swimming is a sin? Lol, according to a few, it is... To be fair, it wasn't all of them. In fact, I would say at 80% did not agree with the more ridiculous statements.
That got me to thinking about what would happen if the more ridiculous ones were completely in charge. Now that is scary to think about.
I wonder how common these type of people are. As far as I can tell, I hardly ever come across any in the real world(as in normal people, not the nuts on TV or on the internet)... I would think that they would be easy to spot too, because on the internet I find they are very quick to come out and explain how I'm going to hell for saying lewd things internets... like OMG, DANCING ROCKS!!!
Strange post, but I just had to let it out... Maybe I should start a blog that no one will read...

1. There is nothing scarier than someone who believes that they |
|
know the truth and that there is some, powerful, supernatural being backing them up, no matter how erroneous their ideas are.

2. There are people that take all types of things to extremes |
|
Someone to the extreme of anything is scary to have in charge of too much. Yes, there are many Christians that have extreme positions on some things, people aren't perfect and the people in Christianity are no different.
I love the swimming being a sin when it is through baptism that we enter the economy of salvation.

Wanted her girls to go swimming in the long dresses she made them wear to class. Apparently, although God made the children's bodies, girl's bodies were not to be viewed. Bizarre woman. I was not welcome in her house for years; I missed seeing the kids grow up, which I regret, but I have to admit the woman herself left me upset and frustrated.

9. Well, the scary part is that it is precisely those with the far-out |
|
views (as you describe) who are the most eager to form a theocracy here.
