Argentina's first lady wins presidency: AP
Last Update: 7:40 PM ET Oct 28, 2007 SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Exit polls in Sunday's Argentine national election indicated first lady Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner won by a big-enough margin among 27.1 million voters avoid a runoff and become the first woman elected president, according to media reports.
Official results were due later Sunday in the race between the heavily favored Fernandez and 13 rivals, Associated Press reported.
Fernandez's husband, President Nestor Kirchner, who is leaving office after two terms, is credited with Argentina's rebound from a 2001 economic collapse. Much of Fernandez's support is due to his popularity.
The exit polls tracked major pre-election polls showing Fernandez getting 40 % of the vote with a lead of more than the 10% she needed to win the presidency outright.

I can deal with that.
Not the oddly smiling drape-wearing person currently in the White House...

it crossed my mind today that maybe they're desperate enough to try and get her to run. She's been much more vocal and visible on the "issues" lately.
God perish the thought!
