1. Can Arizona do that by law? |
|
I was under the impression we have no recall mechanism for federal legislators except impeachment and voting the guy out.

2. Arizona may be able to do that - not sure |
|
But I've seen other threads where it was stated that Connecticut unfortunately can't. We're stuck with Lieberman for 6 years. The best we can do is get more democrats elected to the Senate in 2008 so the dem leadership can tell him to go to hell.

Is AZ trying to recall McCain?
Recall must be part of the state constitution to do it to someone who holds a statewide office, doesn't it?
I know that I, personally, led a fight to get recall into our town charter and then used it to throw out an entire corrupt school committee. Just getting it into the charter took 4 months and getting the election to get them out took two more. Then did more damage in that time period, but we were able to undo it quickly, once they were removed.
Having said that, I don't know if it is part of the CT Constitution or not.

4. Recall was tried in California |

Agaisnt Dianne Feinstein. It's a Constitutional non-starter. The Ninth Circuit (of which Arizona is a part, however reluctantly) has consistently ruled that state recall laws, and even state constitutions which provide for recalls, yield to the U.S. Constitution, which sets the ONLY qualifications for election to the United States Senate, House of Representatives, Vice Presidency and Presidency. In other words, 30 years old, etc., set forth in Article I.
Arizona cannot recall John McCain.

5. CT can't. But even if they could, you'd have to be a fucking idiot... |
|
... to trust the fucking jackass Connecticut electorate to vote for the most decent person.

7. Why would Connecticut do that? |
|
I mean, I hate LIEberman just as much as anyone else, but Connecticut JUST voted him in, for chrissakes.
It wouldn't make any sense right now. Won't happen.

8. He like, just got elected... |
|
I wish he hadn't been, but then again I don't live in Connecticut. In the end, the voters (as long as the vote is clean) decide.
So I guess if they really wanted to get rid of him... but I don't see that happening.
