Orange County Fire Authority officials announced this morning that they would like to see videotape and still photos taken near the point of the Santiago fire's ignition on Oct. 21.
Officials said that there were 30 to 40 people on Black Star Canyon Road, near the ignition point of the fire, videotaping and taking still photos, on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 21, when the fire started. Officials believe they would have had a good view of the ignition point.
Officials are asking for those people to contact the Fire Authority's arson tip line – 1-800-540-8282 – and to turn over video and pictures taken in a 20-minute window, between 5:55 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Oct. 21.
Fire Authority Chief Chip Prather wouldn't comment on what officials were looking for in the film, except to say: "We'd like pictures of people standing around as well as (of) the fire."

Authorities investigating the Santiago fire are asking for the public's help in finding a truck seen in the area when the fire started.
The Orange County Fire Authority released a picture of a white 1998-2004 Ford F-150 on Friday, saying the agency wants to talk to the driver. The Fire Authority is not calling the driver a suspect. Investigators said the vehicle was seen around the time the fire broke out in an Orange County canyon.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives dispatched 20 investigators to Orange County and then called in 15 more when leads began pouring in after agencies announced rewards, said Earl Woodham, an ATF spokesman.
To leave a tip for authorities, call 800-540-8282.
