What would you think of a candidate who accepted a contribution from Stormfront |
|
or rather from the man who owns and runs it? What would you think of a candidate for president who allowed Stormfront to link to the candidate's site from their site? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=3646867

1. But he is better than Hillary Clinton, did you not know? |
|
:sarcasm:
Not surprising when you know about Ron Paul. The problem is that some people just do not want to know. He opposed the war, so he must be good on everything...

It's not just about having a Stormfront link on a website....Ron Paul accepted money from the piece of garbage.

7. I suppose he could AT LEAST issue a statement denouncing |
|
Stormfront and asking them not to link to his site. He could return the contribution from the owner of Stormfront. This stuff is a no brainer- and it's fucking inexcusable.

Ron Paul's always come across like a little POS anyhow, so I can't say that I'm surprised about this stuff.

At least some of the Paul supporters here can claim ignorance. Paul can't.

of Stormfront's love affair for Paul anymore. It's been out there for a while now. I've posted it a couple of times already and so have others,it's largely ignored.I call it willful ignorance. Paul is one frightening nutjob.

10. Most of us that support his latest bill restoring the constitution |
|
have no plans on supporting his candidacy. Why are you so scared of him or anyone mentioning the bill or the fracture in the republican ranks due to him? Why do you turn that into "supporting" his run for the presidency?

12. nope. drop the amateur analysis: I'm not scared of Paul |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 07:17 AM by cali
I am freaked out about people here supporting him, and seeing as I ran a poll asking people to choose between Clinton and Paul, and 25% of those voting chose Paul over Clinton, I'm not turning support for his bill into anything.
And the bill has no chance of going anywhere. It's a gesture. He may well believe in it, but it's pointless to expect that it'll get any support. Hell, they couldn't even pass the Habeas Restoration Act.
And golly gee, it disgusts me that any candidate for President would accept money from neo-nazis. How overly sensitive of me.

And that has zilch to do with the FACT that he accepted a sizeable contribution from a neo-nazi, has not returned it, and has not denounced these people.

20. I did a google search and I found no evidence that that claim |
|
is much more than a CT. And even were it true, how does that REALLY have anything to do with the FACT that Paul has taken money from someone who truly is a vile neo-nazi.
You haven't made a case for anything. I have. There's a big difference between your vague accusations with no links and evidence to back them up, and my statement about Paul.

|

that really mean change. The movement has to start somewhere. As far as amateur analysis goes, why engage in Paul vs Democrats for president when he has zero chance of becoming a nominee?

16. First of all, I'd rather focus on things that DO stand a chance |
|
in Congress- like the Habeas Restoration Act. Yes, I know it didn't pass, but it was damn close in the Senate.
Secondly, the reason for engaging in Paul vs dems is that there seems to be a sizeable minority here who are infatuated with him, and I think it's worth pointing out that this is misguided, at best.

|
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 08:34 AM by mmonk
then I guess the movement behind it is to be dismissed? I sure hope not. And of course, I see it as hand in hand with the Restoring the Constitution Act Senator Dodd is promoting. I wouldn't take such polls of Hillary vs this or that candidate too seriously. Her negatives are high among activists. It doesn't translate into much at all. Put Paul in a poll with all democrats at the same time and see if the support remains the same.

I support all and any measures to restore the constitution. It goes way beyond party labels. With any movement, two bills are usually generated anyway in the House and Senate.

He beats Tancredo on that front. He looks mild and meek, but look into his "friends" and statements and he's a racists' dream come true...from gun control to expelling all "aliens" to repressing rights of minorities. Makes ya wonder how he's twist the Constitution if given the chance.

Regardless of what you may think of the guy (and I happen to think he's nothing more than an ineffectual codpiece for the Angry White Martyred Male vote), this is an extreme dunder-head move on his part.
If he says his staff overlooked it, it'll be seen as nothing more than Johnny-come-lately damage control while advertising his (or his staff's) inept inaction on vetting his very own website; or-- he'll leave it up, giving a silent endorsement to a fringe group so extreme that any moderate GOPers who might have considered him will immediately look elsewhere for a candidate thus marginalizing him even further.
Freshman mistake on his part. Let the damage control begin!
