Gen. Tommy Franks is 2nd "dumbest SOB in the world" ??

A few days ago, General Franks was quoted as calling Doug Feith the "dumbest" person in the world. It appears that Feith may be getting some competition from the General himself?

Based on this and other hopeful suppositions, the command’s planners projected what the American occupation of Iraq might look like. After the main fighting was over, there was to be a two- to three-month “stabilization” phase, then an 18- to 24-month “recovery” phase.

That was to be followed by a 12- to 18-month “transition” phase. At the end of this stage — 32 to 45 months after the invasion began — it was projected that the United States would have only 5,000 troops in Iraq.

6. the picture painted of Franks in the books on Iraq is not complementary

These books make him seem incurious (remind you of anyone?) and crass. He carries a portable DVD player with him when he travels and a bunch of war and action movies which he watches any chance he gets.

The perfect kind of person for the country's highest honor indeed.

Reagan started the anti-intellectualism in this country and W turned it into an obsession. I hate them both for that. God forbid we ever think.
