LOS ANGELES (AP) Television and movie screen writers say they will go on strike for the first time in nearly 20 years in a dispute over royalties.

Wasn't the shite-storm of so-called "reality" television the awful offspring of the last writers' guild strike? Seems I recall that. And what a boon for producers: no need to pay writers, or even actors. Is that crap really an improvement? Is that where we want television to go?

I for one am not happy with that result, and shudder to think of what'll happen this time.

Are there any DUers in this industry who will weigh in on this?
