Bagdad woman charged with manslaughter in son's death

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged a Bagdad woman with manslaughter Wednesday after her son was killed when she crashed into a telephone pole early last year.

Davetta Jeanne Petersen, 45, was also charged with criminal damage and three counts of endangerment. Petersen's blood alcohol content was 0.13 after the accident. The legal limit in Arizona is 0.08.

Petersen's son, Levi James McDaniel, was 16 when he was ejected from the bed of the Ford Ranger Extra Cab his mother was driving in March last year. Petersen was apparently driving on County Road 62 near Congress when she left the road and struck a telephone pole, reports stated.
