Will Bush recess appoint Mukasey?
Today, the LA Times reports that there “is speculation that Bush might install Mukasey during the congressional holiday break. That recess appointment would enable Mukasey to serve unconfirmed until a new Congress convenes, and Bush leaves office, in January 2009. But congressional sources said they doubted that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would stand for such a maneuver.”

2. So Reid will do something to prevent it?
Might he actually schedule sessions during the holiday? Those poor senators! Will attendance be required?

11. Reid and Rahm have just changed the calendar back to a four day work week
Reid may huff, puff and strut around, but it is all show. He is not going to make any big play by holding the sessions open during official down time.

3. Uh-oh.. Harry's gonna stamp his feet & shake his finger?
again? :eyes:.. or will he huff & puff & roll his eyes? or threaten to hold his breath until he turns blue & faints?

Bush has , time and again, shown the congress that he's not afraid of them, and since they always cave in to him, why should he fear any threats.. What are they gonna do to him? Impeachment's "off the table" and the clocks gonna run out before long, so of COURSE he's going to recess-appoint him.

10. At least if * does appoint Mukasey during the recess
when Mukasey really screws up no one will be able to say "well the Dems confirmed him," and all of the other usual BS that follows. It will all be on lil pissypants.
