More proof of what a despicable piece of shit Bush is: Autism funding may face presidential veto
Last week, the joint House/Senate Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Conference Committee reported out their version of the FY 2008 funding bill. This legislation includes significant increases for autism related programs at the National Institutes of Health, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Unfortunately, President Bush is vowing to veto this legislation. This veto threatens much needed increases for autism early intervention, diagnosis, treatment and research. We must work to get a veto-proof majority for this conference report in both the House and the Senate.

Please email, call or fax your Member of Congress or Senator today and urge them to SUPPORT the FY 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill. Feel free to use the sample email below, or modify it to discuss why this bill is so important to you!

Click link below to send an email to your Senator, urging him or her to support this important bill.

1. You see none of this gets in the news. He told MSM to stuff it.
And he can't sign anything that will make the congress look good. He and the republicans are doing what they set out to do, sink the congress. Everything good congress has done is not getting out. Only the bills the republicans have blocked and bush have vetoed are being credited to the democrats. He does not care for the American people. He loves power, money and his ego.....nothing else matters in that air head of his.

2. Good!
Just pile this onto the GOP candidates next year along with the SCHIP veto. The GOP hates children and really hates sick and disabled children.

3. Fuck people with autism
If they had conservative values they wouldn't need any federal assistance.

What a dumbass bush is, vetoing a prohealth bill because he doesn't want congress to look good. Wow, what a brilliant strategist.

6. What breaks my heart is that I know first-hand what a tremendous
difference early diagnosis and treatment can make. Society as a whole wins, because adults who had early treatment as young children require less services and supports. It's a win-win situation. This move shows what a hateful bastard Bush is.

I haven't voted for a republican since 1976
thanks to george bush I won't vote for a republican before 2376. hey, but lets insist that families go into financial ruin by keeping loved ones on life support for decades. Those with conservative values are the number one domestic enemy of our constitution.

12. Yes, they've done a lot of work to raise awareness and money for autism.
When my child was diagnosed more than 13 years ago, we had no voice in Washington D.C. and there was virtually no federal or private funds being spent on autism research. It's disheartening to see that people like Bush can set our cause back with the the stroke of his poison pen, especially knowing how hard we have worked to improve the lives/ future for people with autism. It used to be that once you had a politician's ear, BOTH parties were pretty sympathetic to our requests. Bush is noticeably lacking in basic human empathy.
