Feinstein Says She'll Reluctantly Vote for Mukasey
Feinstein Says She'll Reluctantly Vote for Mukasey

CAPITOL HILL (AP) -- Things may be looking up for President Bush's nominee for attorney general.

Two Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee say they will vote in favor of Michael Mukasey's nomination, likely giving him enough support to pass the committee.

Senators Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein said they would vote for Mukasey, albeit with little enthusiasm. Schumer calls it "an extremely difficult decision" and says Mukasey is not his "ideal choice." Feinstein says "first and foremost" he's not Alberto Gonzales.

Their decisions come shortly after the panel's chairman, Senator Patrick Leahy announced he would vote against Mukasey. The Vermont Democrat says his mind was made up by Mukasey's refusal to define waterboarding as torture. In a letter to the panel, Mukasey called the interrogation technique "repugnant" but said did not know enough about how it had been used to call it torture.

1. Reluctant
I'm sure if Bush attacks Iran, he will do so "reluctantly".

2. Hey, Di - answer me this: if you are "reluctant", then
WHY THE HELL are you voting for the SOB?????? You KNOW he's just one more evil fascist. You KNOW it in your heart.

God, am I sorry I EVER voted for this woman. What a frickin' jellyfish.

3. Maybe you AREN'T a full-fledged war criminal Difi and Schumer
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 05:18 PM by Horse with no Name
but you are now enablers of war crimes.
So it doesn't REALLY matter how reluctantly you vote...my sincere wish is when this republic rights itself, that your feet are swinging in the breeze right alongside bush and company at the Hague.
And I say that with the most reluctance.:eyes:

I really wonder what Bush has on Sen. Feinstein.

She goes on a trip on Air Force One, and says that Bush was "charming".

Sad. sad.

15. I'm sure her reluctance will be very comforting
to those we water board in the future.

Can some one help me out with this? "first and foremost he's not Alberto Gonzales."

Isn't that true of ALL the potential nominees? So how is that a selling point? It's like looking at a field of 500 candidates, and deciding to vote for this one here, because at least this one doesn't have a turnip sprouting out of his head. If none of the others do either, how is that a deciding factor?

18. What does it matter if he IS NOT Gonzales?
If he enables Bush in the same way, then what gains did we make getting rid of Gonzales?
Same as voting for "any old Dem"....well, this is what with brand recognition in place of quality.
