Pleasant Dreams Chuck & Dianne - I've Provided Some Bedtime Reading Material For You...
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 05:46 PM by kpete
Yes, I am pissed.
They have approved torture in OUR names.

So my message to Bushco, Dianne & Chuck:

If you support the use of waterboarding on enemy captives,
you support the use of that torture on any future American captives.

Think About This Man When You Go To Bed Tonight

Then look here to see:

AUTOPSY REPORTS FROM GITMO

I know George can't read, but perhaps the others would like to doze off with the above reading material.

PLEASANT DREAMS ASSHOLES!

2. They don't care
They'll sleep just fine.

And America will continue to deny that her government tortures people and the guilty will continue to call themselves President and Vice-President.

5. So the Democratic leadership is going on record voting in favor of torture.
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 05:48 PM by fasttense
They could have held hearings to hear from people all over the world who have expertise with interrogation and torture. They could have allowed opposition groups to organize and scheduled the vote for later. Instead they schedule the torture vote for Tuesday.

The Democratic congress is going to approve torture. I just can't believe it.

They have lost their moral center, they have been totally corrupted by the bushes.

This is all of the Democratic party's doing. They don't need to schedule it so soon. They could fight for something.

If they aren't going to stand up against torture, what will they think is important enough to fight for?????

Barak, Dianne, Chuck... didn't the party stand for something?
I thought Dems were for equal rights and against torture....
Sad...
I will never forget these celebrations of Bushdumb.

8. Hmm. It's a war crime to "tolerate" or "condone" torture. Gee, is voting for it like "tolerating"?
To answer the question immediately above, some Democrats, quite tragically, for example are compromised by their votes on measures like the Military Commission Act of 2006, legalizing what was euphemized as "torture lite". Few legal rules admit of absolutely no exceptions, but this is one of them. If a rule of international law that admits of no exceptions (even in war) like the law against any form of torture or inhumane degrading treatment is crossed, that is your textbook definition of crossing over to the dark side.

Imagine yourself, if you will, having crossed over to the dark side of torture. For decades it was practiced but always secretly, covertly, in other countries, but not openly, as a matter of policy and vote, as here, now, in the USA. One is UTTERLY EXPOSED. THere's not really a legitimate debate about "no exceptions" rules. That might explain some of the twisted "it's not torture" baloney: It's the only conceivable defense left.

But asking BSers to voluntarily submit to waterboarding may well help to remove insincere arguments about whether or not it is torture. k&R

13. Obama has taken a clear stand against torture and against Mukasey.
Whatever else you may disagree with him about, that much is true.

12. Imagine the mourning in Iraq.
I was going to post this in a new thread. But there isn't much to say. Except, imagine.

Imagine someone you love has just died. I lost a cat who was like my brother, almost a year ago. And I'm still deeply affected.

Now imagine a million dead Iraqis. Now imagine their mother. Father. Best friend. Son. Daughter.

There are tens of millions in deep mourning in Iraq.

I don't think Americans are good an imagining. But that is why we need the media. Not the Republican media. The American's media. Because pictures at eleven is required. No one can imagine the results of not caring.

14. The only excuse I can possibly imagine for their behavior...
Question: for the AG position, could Bush make a recess appointment of some (even more) insane freak?

I admit I don't know the answer to this question, but if he could, I could see taking the devil we know over some frothing Federalist society kook or Texas crony.

If he can't, well, to hell with their appeasement of Il Dingbat & Co.
