3. yep just got one
some stats show that if 20% of the pop were to abandon their ridiculous suvs and macho hummers we wouldnt need to import oil from the arab states. But nooooooooooooo - that requires logical thought and the willingness to sacrifice. Speaking of sacrifice, since when is the decision to drive a smaller car a sacrifice???

16. Ditto.
Blue tooth, talk through the speakers, satellite radio, a calendar, a computer that leds me know what's behind the car when I back up, the GPS/Guidance system, the wonderful climate control, the trip information, etc., etc.

24. Double Ditto. All that, plus South Carolina to Dallas @ 54 MPG (2000+ miles).

I'd rather drive my Prius than my wife's Volvo wagon.

and I got 49 on my last tank ... mostly in-town plus a trip to Palm Springs and back (about 3 hours' worth of a trip)! We went to the Palm Springs Pride Parade today .... with PFLAG ( www.pflagtemecula.org ), got together a bunch of PFLAGs, and had a great contingent today.

Boy, 54 M.P.G. - you SHOULD be proud!

5. Chevy Volt may roll out next year
General Motors may build as many as 60,000 of its Volt electric cars for their inaugural year on the market, four times the sales of Toyota Motor Corp.'s hybrid Prius.

6. That could be an interesting development...
GM seems to have something good with this. I hope they develop further. I have not seen the film 'who killed the electric car', but it's supposed to be about GM I believe.

GM seems to have the technology but have often done a poor job implementing it.

22. Sorry, I think it's ugly
It would have to get REALLY good mileage before I'd trade my Prius for that thing. It's like the Batmobile gone evil.

9. Chevy Volt is already being road tested on the streets of Detroit.
I think GM will roll them out as early as late 2008 (early 2009)

11. No, it won't be out until 2010
Testing takes awhile, then they have to get the production up and running. The car was just debuted in Jan 2007, it usually takes a few years between concept and actual production. There's no way it'll be out for 2008.

14. I'm guessing this is probably what you're referring to:
http://www.gm-volt.com/2007/10/29/chevy-volt-in-motion/#comments

Here's the "story behind the story", if you will:

http://www.gm-volt.com/2007/03/22/whats-under-the-volts-hood/

The concept car is running on a simple electric golf cart motor at the present time, as the actual battery technology they plan to use isn't even in place yet.

Current ones just dont appeal to me at all, though the Volt does look pretty good!

21. I do that regularly
I get around 62 MPG on my 20-mile drive to work, provided the temperature is over about 60°. When the temperature drops this time of year, my mileage drops down to about 50.

25. It is a Prius. That's from 2 weeks ago, the fall and spring
temps are best for the mileage because the AC is not running so much as in summer, or it's not running the engine so much to keep it warmed up as in winter.

23. Nationwide recall on Honda Hybrid for too much grease on something?
WTF? The problem affects the brake system on which the fuctionality of the car depends, not to mention the stopping. I've had mine into the store 3 different times for the same problem and looking at a fourth. But I still love the car.
