4. My husband was in Egypt at the time of the anthrax letters

and when we talked over the phone he would tell me about what he saw on/in the news there about it...except he ALWAYS knew days before I did who got a letter. That was because in the US the reports were not coming out when the letters were discovered...but days and days later... while in Egypt, they were getting the news in a timely manner.

One day he called and was talking about the TV producer/writer (can't recall which) whose baby came in contact with an anthrax letter..and I said..."Where did you hear that?"...he said "On the news"...and I said...but I hadn't seen anything that said that...and a few days later...it hit the American news.

Go figure...

39. I'll Never Forget The Incidents

Although I've grown a little hazy on the name of that scientist from Ft. Detrick, MD who was a "person of interest." Hatfield? Whose career they ruined. Where they unproductively drained the pond in which they expected to find discarded evidence of the alleged crime?

I don't suppose I'll ever believe that the government organized the distribution itself; that was a little too uncontrollable. But the non-investigation and the continuing uncertainty had/has everything to do with conveniently keeping the American public anxious and compliant. The timing was too perfect for the buildup to war plans. How could they risk confirming that they found, for example, the latter-day equivalent of L.H. Oswald and the Unabomber rolled into one?

Buttressing my personal theory, this is also about the same time that old Rummy-Tum-Tugger came out with the harebrained recommendations about plastic and duct tape to protect your home, if I recall. I'm contemptuous about it now, but that seriously got under my (Baby Boomer who grew up with bomb shelters, civil defense sirens, and classroom practice drills of stop, drop, and cover) skin; a U.S. official seriously making such a recommendation.

No, I won't forget, and I think I would demand that a renewed investigation take place under the next administration.

37. Whenever I hear some talking head pontificating how

the US hasn't been hit since 9/11, I think, that's a big lie. Anthrax happened shortly after 9/11, and that was some fear-inducing shit. It may have been intended for prominent Democrats and the "liberal" media, but it found its way onto the mail of ordinary citizens and killed a few of them along with some postal workers. I think it was a Bush/Cheney plan gone wrong.

Amazing how the investigation went nowhere and the attacks were pretty much forgotten by the media. I haven't forgotten though, and am convinced that was the government attempting to silence its critics. I often think Pelosi and Reid must have been shown photos of anthrax letters addressed to their homes. It would explain a lot.

The FBI agent who destroyed all the evidence and burned the lab where it was produced and the videos of who took it from the lab...was promoted and decorated. Plum island does not have that kind of containment, Detrick does. Plum island does research on some lower level pathogens like West Nile Virus. That level of pathogen would be deadly there.
In fact they did DNA analysis on the Anthrax and pretty much PROOVED that it came from Detrick, whom it is well known has down biodefense research for years.
FYI, as someone who has actually been to Detrick and is familiar with the anthrax vaccine program, I believe that the person(s) responsible are holding leadership positions in the government doing vaccine research. In 2000 the anthrax vaccine research program was in big trouble because of safety issues and questions of actual need for the vaccine...Its pretty coincidental that not long after that the attacks began..one could almost think someone wanted to illustrate how dangerous Anthrax is and how much a vaccine is needed. Since 2001 the biodefense money has flowed. I think this person is probably buddy buddy with the government and therefore will never be investigated.

The letters contained a specific type of weaponized Anthrax made by a United States military lab which had been claiming for a lot of years that it wasn't doing that sort of thing any more. "What? Oh, you mean THAT Anthrax over there! Sheesh, we thought you said 'Pamflax' and shuckies but we quit making that stuff a long time ago. Honest. Really. If we're lying may God strike us... a glancing blow."

The pattern of the mailings of the Anthrax letters was also suspicious. Congress got their Anthrax letters just in time for the vote on the disingenuously named USA Patriot Act (aka the anti-terror bill) which the terrorized Senators voted into law without bothering to read. The bill was signed on Oct. 26, 2001, and it opened the door for a wide array of civil rights and liberties violations. How convenient for the bill's sponsors that there was a terror attack on the Congress just when Congress was about to vote on the anti-terror bill. Eerie timing, isn't it?

So now, knowing that the Anthrax letters came from an American source, take another look at the actual letters.
