Should the Democrats bring up the weak dollar
Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 02:39 PM by Onlooker
Our dollar is so damn weak now. Never mind the fact that it means foreigners are buying our goods at record pace, they're buying our country -- our debt, our stocks, our homes, our land, etc. I read not too long ago that one of the reasons real estate prices remain so high in places like NYC is because foreigners, many of whom don't spend much time in NYC are buying up properties.

But, the biggest political issue is, I think, for travelers. Traveling anyplace outside the US is getting prohibitively expensive.

The link I found this article said, "The US dollar is now worth 93 cents Canadian, lowest since the Civil War"

2. I think they should bring it up - it's critical. We the people HAVE to know
what the real situation is in this country. We may not like it (to put it mildly) but if we want to return this country to BY the people we need to all work at reshaping our future. If it was made clear how fragile we are right now, I have faith we would come together and restore our strength and democracy.

3. When they buy into the US
They buy into our problems. When we fall, they fall. I think that may be the last thing holding this shaky house of cards up.

4. The Democrats can bring it up but they won't do a damn thing
about it. Just like everything else. :dem:

5. Is that even still possible, now that the economy is so far along to being Feudalized/Bushified
I am not sure that fiscal responsibility and a more equitable, less corrupt economy is enough, anymore. I mean, we outsourced our manufacturing base to China, for God's sake!

Can we turn around the dollar weakness. Maybe some, but we will never get all of it back tyhat we have lost from before the Bushies seized the nation.

6. They should also bring up the oil prices
from $23 in 2003 to $95 and change today. They should be screaming re Waxman's oversight document on Cheney's eneregy policies.

8. Bush is giving the dollar the Grover Norquist treatment....
he's trying to shrink it so it will be small enough to drown in the bathtub.
