Update on the couple trying to win a wedding... |
|
I emailed the website, because they hadn't yet announced the winner of the contest. I'm sorry to say that a different couple, Viviana and Kenneth, have won. Still, I wish them and all the couples the happiest of days.
And now, I guess the best way we can support Suzanne and Jeffrey, is to keep up the fight to bring our troops home from Iraq as quickly as possible, and do all we can to keep thm safe while they're there.
When they do have their big day, my friend has promised to send pics of the wedding that I can share with you.
I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and enthusiasm of DU while the "Lend a hand to a young couple" thread was going, both in GD and the Lounge. It made the perfect valentine for me.
DUers truly are the best of the best! :loveya::loveya::loveya:

2. Well that's too bad. I just looked through the votes and saw that the winning |
|
couple had over 25,000 while our couple had about 9,000.
That's some tough competition!
In any event, I wish them well.

5. Actually, I think that 25,000 was some sort of technical error |
|
or a hack.
The couple that won had around 8,500 votes. So it was a close contest; and we gave it our best shot!
Thanks for your help! :yourock:

7. No kidding? Well shiver me timbers...I quit voting because of that. |

You can blame the loss on me.

By the time that post was listed, I'm pretty sure they'd stopped counting votes.

11. Thanks for letting us know the outcome. |

Putting an end to this war so the groom can come home and begin his life with his new wife is the best we can do now. Yet one more good reason that this senseless war must stop.

12. It makes me wonder how many other young people are in the same situation. |
|
And how many kids are missing their moms and dads right now...
