Is all the saber rattling with Iran meant to make Democrats look weak going into the elections?
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 09:59 PM by Quixote1818

My Dad was mentioning a New York Times article that suggested this. I think it was by Frank Rich. Perhaps the plan is to try to scare the hell out of the American people again going into the election and people will worry the Democrats are too "wimpy" to protect them?

Is that the plan or are they really nuts enough to go through with this?

On Edit: He mentioned the poll that said 52% of Americans were for a strike on Iran. Their propaganda is working again. Hope the press does their job this time. Actually I think there is an article out today that said Iran isn't even close to having nuclear weapons.

4. Fear is the only weapon Re-Pubic-Rats know how to use.
They do not know how to use helping the poor and elderly, peace, rebuilding the infrastructure or any other numerous things that are beneficial to the wellbeing of the majority of people. Flexing your muscles, being macho, killing people are all money making vehicles for the magnates of mega-corporations.

6. The Media (Press) has been cheerleading Iran just as
the did to get us into Iraq. Where do the majority of Americans
get their information??? TV. TV TV. Not too many read newspapers
where they might get a different perspective.

At regular intervals the Media has breathlessly read the WH talking
points on Big BAD Dangerous Iran. Fox serves a full dose weekly.

The Tel-Evangelists have filled their followers with such messages
as we will have to go to war with Iran. Hagee has coined Ahmadinejahd
the New Hitler. Some Preachers refer to him as the Anti-Christ.

Of course, they ready to strikie Iran.

7. If Bush doesn't attack Iran before the elections, what would the point have been?
It's not to scare people and do nothing. It's to scare people and do something.

Or it could be to scare people into doing nothing. And it's largely working.

12. What are they gonna do?
Since when does a President take a poll on when to start an undeclared war? If Congress doesn't do its job, there's no other recourse. You can't sue to stop war. And if protests were to succeed they'd call it mob rule. Ideally, they'd avoid war with Iran because it's stupid, not because of politics, but we don't live in an ideal world to say the least.

So I don't know where there should be this idea of scaring people into doing nothing. The people are irrelevant to this.

The Dems. need to call out the republiks on this. Meaning everytime a repuke screams "WE'RE TOUGHER ON TERRA," our response should be "WHY IS OSAMA STILL AT LARGE?"

10. I would think both, I have no doubt they would attack Iran in a heartbeat
if enough people stood behind them but reading of how even the military leaders are not all in sinc with such a plan they have to tread more slowly, they have no choice right now, but either way they win at least time if nothing else by ensuring fear remains their main winning strategy to ensure they remain in power and free for the moment to ignore the continued demands that answers be forthcoming, subpoenas adhered to and evidence, ie white house emails be given.

They don't care, such is obvious but it's also obvious that they need the man power who will do the deeds without question and such is not going according to plan as is obvious so far or we would have already invaded Iran of that I have no doubt so though many people think we are losing the war with these criminals that have taken over our highest governmental offices I don't think its as bad as it could have been or they would be going much faster with their obvious plan for a complete takeover.

11. Given that the pollsters are part of the MSM.......
I don't believe it's anywhere near 52%.

Even Joe Sixpack remembers the rhetoric they used for Iraq.
