Need some help re the strange DFA poll...Kucinich
The votes are weird IMO and if anyone can copy and paste the results later on this evening I would appreciate it.

Link
http://democracyforamerica.com/

Dennis has been gaining steadily in this poll over several days and even reached over 31% before midnight ET. When I refreshed the page he had dropped under 30% rapidly. Looking at the other candidate numbers they all seemed to fluctuate slightly, the big difference was in the votes cast for Gravel. They were skyrocketing, so I started to open a new tab instead of refreshing the page and will post the numbers below. Sorry for all the numbers, but if you look at the time in the upper right hand corner you will note that within just over an hour almost all of the 6000-7000 votes went to Gravel?

Strange??? I sent them an email.

1. i havent gone to the poll, but if theres cheating going on
i think its safe to say its been happening for Kucinich too, based on your numbers above....

i dunno how calling out cheating makes it okay for you to cheat too, but hey whatever

3. ??? Look at the numbers posted above, almost all votes in
just over an hour went to Gravel. Do you think 7000+ Gravel supporters decided to all vote past midnight on a Sunday night?

I'm cheating??? Do you have proof, I voted once.

13. yeah i saw that
but i also saw kucinich going up 30..40..50 votes in short periods of time...

sorry but the DFA website doesnt get THAT much traffic to justify ANY of the numbers on the poll.

so if cheating is occuring, i think its happening for more than one canidate.

thats all im saying.

16. I was not following it that closely until last night when the numbers
were jumping quickly, they have now thrown out many votes from early this morning. Cheating is cheating regardless of the candidate so hopefully someone contacted DFA at the time. It is difficult now to go back a week or two in time

Just as it is now hard to undo the Bush years, Patriot Act, Iraq invasion etc. the time to take a stand is when it is happening, not years later :(

Back to impeachment calls etc.

:)

4. Just a few hours ago Gravel was under 1000
So yes, I'd say the poll has been hacked. Unless DFA figures out some way to winnow out the freep vote, it looks like the poll is worthless. I think they were doing it with some of Kucinich's numbers before -- there were many times his total jumped by hundreds in a few minutes -- and when there was no hue and cry from us (perhaps because many of us really like Dennis), they've switched to Gravel. I would imagine Gravel's age (77) has pretty much ruled him out as anyone's serious candidate.

6. Hard to cull the freeps
Maybe DFA can do it, hope so.

But yeah, Dennis is the only one who was right AND is standing up to corrupted power. Funny to think that freeps would consider this guy, if our nominee, as torpedoing the Democrats. Most of the US population agrees with Kucinich.

7. Kucinich has been climbing steadily for days. I posted the
numbers a few days ago when he was marginally above Gore and then checked occasionally. I know many candidates sent an email out about the poll which is fine. If you look at the time period below, approximately 12 minutes, you will see that out of 2448 votes, 2376 or 97%, went to Gravel???

Did you see any posts about those large jumps for Kucinich, I have not.

10. Just post 4 above - referred to Kucnich jumps possibly from freeps
I have no evidence, no. I do know that freeps swarm like the Flood on Halo3. And who they think would be injurious to the republic is usually 180 degrees off.

11. I've written down some daily totals since Gore first pulled ahead
about mid October. At that time we had Gore at 12001 and Kucinich at 6732, with Obama and Edwards in between. On October 24 A.M. Gore was at 23950 while Kucinich was at 13450, again with Obama and Edwards between. By that night, Gore had gone to 24887 while Kucinich's numbers had jumped about 6400 to 19846. He overtook Gore November 1st A.M.(28988 to 28956), and as of yesterday A.M. Kucinich was at 37822 when Gore was at 33615. I've just thought it somewhat odd I never saw the impassioned "Yea, go Dennis" plethora of threads on DU that we saw when Gore was leading. I figured if there was a group somewhere trying to skews the poll by putting Dennis in the lead, they were somewhat bewildered when no one complained -- again, cuz most of us like him.

Last night I looked at the poll an hour or so before you posted, and I remember wondering if Gravel would even break 1000 before the poll ended.

14. Thanks for the notes. I do see that on 10/24 the poll was posted
on the Kucinich site and believe ??? there was an email sent as well, still those are significant jumps. I did not follow the Gore write in threads here on DU and may have missed any posts about the numbers for Dennis.

After the debate with three mentions of impeachment and 'calling out the press' for their lack of fair reporting in the run up to the invasion of Iraq, I expected Dennis to do well in the poll.

I do see that DFA has now discounted many of the votes from last night, thanks for your help.

Back to impeachment :)

I think they will identify all the illegitimate votes and have a favorable result later today.

22. anyone who owns a domain can make a thousand email addresses,
and then build a small program to go vote for each of them.

That's how Stephen Colbert nearly had a Hungarian Bridge named after him.
That's what was happening with Gravel, and I suspect Kucinich to some extent as well.

I hope the DFA people are able to sort out the real from this fake.

24. The email addresses aren't verified ... so none need be created at all.
I've voted (honestly) in that poll and there was absolutely no verification of my email address. Indeed, I have SEVERAL email addresses (as MANY people do) and didn't bother to 'stuff' the ballot box using them.
