Just over two years ago, I was inspired to do something that I had never attempted before; try to do that which I thought was impossible.
Since then, I have found solice, hope, and on occasion, comfort in how my fellow compartiarchs have slowly began to wake up to what boiled my blood. But shear pride has eluded me, till tonight.
Not knowing much about computers, let alone blogging and social networking, I found my soul in an open letter I decided to write in June on 2005. With the help of some new friends I made on the open forums of Congressman John Conyers and other sites, I made it my personal journey to send it to the e-mail boxes of every journalist, op-ed writer, and news desk that I could find.
After watching Keith's special comment tonight, I hopped onto google to find that letter. I did so because, finally, I believe somebody read that letter.
Thank you Keith, thank you DUers, and I still have faith that I can thank America soon.
My letter...

June 10th 2005
Dear Members of the Press,
We, concerned citizens of the United States, respectfully demand your attention. We are all signatories of the petition put forth by U.S. Representative John Conyers. And, we feel that we are being ignored.
As we write this letter, our numbers are growing. We are averaging 15 to 20 thousand signatures a day and are well on pace to blow past the latest goal of 250,000 signatures set by Rep. Conyers just days ago. But we see that even this may not be enough. So our diligence and our resolve will now become that of legends.
We understand the reluctance of the major news organizations to run with the "Downing Street Minutes" story, to an extent. It is only prudent for major news outlets to tread carefully in the wake of the so called "Rathergate" and Newsweek debacles. But the evidence, as well as public interest, is beginning to surge. Soon, the outcry will be too loud to ignore. And who do you think the people will hold ultimately accountable? This is not what we want. This is not in the best interests of our country.
For those who have spoken up, we understand the pressures being brought to bear against you, and we salute you. These are trying times, but we must all hang together, or surely, we will all hang separately. And in kind, you understand that this is not just about "fixing information" only to justify this one disastrous misadventure. They are trying to "fix" everything; whether it is scientific reports on the environment for energy companies, or the past personal, and business relationships of just about every top official in this administration. From The bin Laden's and the ISI (Pakistani Intelligence) to Ken Lay and James Bath. They respect no one. Not you, not us. But that is of no consequence now. We no longer want their respect, we want their resignations, and we want justice!
The free press is the cornerstone of our nation's freedom. The mortar that holds true this great colonnade, quarried by our Forefathers in Philadelphia, together. With pen and paper, they built the greatest monument to justice, equality, and fairness humanity has ever seen.
But today, many see that mortar loosing its strength. It is slowly being compromised by one big stone (and you know of who we speak) that has grown spitefully disproportionate to the rest of the structure that lies beneath. When that mortar gives, this sublimely idealistic structure will fall. And then all will be lost.
The builders of our great nation have left their humble tools to you and to us, in the form of the First Amendment. But we are merely the holders of the promise of the paper. The pens are in your hands; at least that's what we are hoping.
Please, do not take this warning as a threat. But heed this. The people will not be ignored, and we will not tire. We will never allow our beloved country to follow in the footsteps of the Roman Empire. But we will be heard. And we will use every tool given to us by our Founding Fathers to safeguard the rights given to us, and punish those who mean to threaten those rights, or our country. Be they foreign or domestic, ally or adversary, they will be brought to the light. Even if that means asking you for the pen back.
As Ben Franklin said, "A little neglect may breed great mischief...for want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost; and for want of a horse, the rider was lost". Listen to the people, before the people stop listening to you.
The proceeding quotes are just a sample of our growing voices. A small percentage of the body consciousness expressed by the signers of the "Downing Street Minutes" petition. Please listen. And remember.......
We will be watching.
Respectfully awaiting your response,
The Coalition of DSM Signatories.
