How about this ron paul bastard?
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 01:02 AM by The_Casual_Observer
A sort of an anti-christ SOB, he's on a campaign to confuse unaware college students & other young people that he's some kind of a libertarian progressive. He's one dangerous piece of shit as far as I can tell.

19. here is a link to send your friends...
They may not listen, but they can read:

http://www.issues2000.org/TX/Ron_Paul.htm

Outside of his anti-Iraq war position (which we appreciate), he is a genuine RW wacko.

Hard not to agree with his more common senses statements.

5. He's one of them terrorists.
Holdin' up his constitution and saying "allah akbar!"
:sarcasm:

Seriously, chill out. This guy is product of Bush, a backlash against big government. If he steals young voters, its because we haven't put up enough serious opposition to Bush. They are not going to stay republican in the GE!

8. Right wing economic ideology is not progressive by definition.
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 01:15 AM by Selatius
If anything, he is closer to the old proponents of classical liberal economic policy. When I say classical, I mean that liberal a century ago meant that the person believed an individual should be free to do whatever he wants with whatever he owns, such as dumping sludge or poisonous mercury into the river, and he opposed government regulation in favor of that person's individual choice, even if it is detrimental to society at large. That's the dividing line between the liberals and the progressives in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Back then a person who was a progressive was someone who favored breaking monopolies and government intervention to ensure against unfair competition and trade. He most definitely opposed anybody being allowed to dump mercury into the river.

It was only when the 1930s came along that the term liberal was co-opted by FDR and thus forever became associated with FDR and the left. Today, the term is essentially synonymous with progressive today. If Ron Paul considers himself a progressive, then he is a false friend.

13. He an old fashioned Conservative Libertarian
There are young "Conservative kids who buy the Message.
It is the Republican Belief They do not talk about it.

When Republicans refer to Liberty--they mean liberty to earn
and spend your own money. No interference from the Government.
Taxes are the bain of their existence.

Have you ever noticed how they give handouts to Business (Millions)
and resent one penny being given to the poor.

Liberty --ability to earn as much money as you can with no interfecne
"Abolish the IRS"

Often we are not even speaking the same language.

16. Actually I blame the kids for not knowing
why? He has never said he is a progressive and his only "progressive" stance is his oposition to the war, which incidentally we share with right wing libertarians.

Oh and his knowledge of the PNAC plan is extremely good.

Not sure about the rest.

Ron Paul is surely batshit insane even if he's against it. He's one of those who thinks rich people are overtaxed here.

22. I wonder if our frontrunners agree with him re: overtaxed rich people
I actually don't think any of the dems support the drug war. I think they are too cowardly to say what they really mean.
Public opinion supports Prohibition. Dems follow suit.
