4. Huckabee--who said in a Salon article from today that when he outlaws abortion, he'll |
|
help all those women pay for their childbirth or adoptions. He's also the one who said he would ignore Congress and take military action if he thought he was right and they were wrong. Oh, and he would have to "weigh the Constitution against my conscience"--in other words, he knows better than the Constitution. And when he went deer hunting, the Lord guided his bullet to the deer--it was a miracle!! Good Christ.

anyway, not without a constitutional amendment (that's what HE says anyway). I'm sure you knew that was a non-issue when you posted about it yesterday.

31. See, there you go with one of your deceptive tangents. |
|
Abortion IS an important issue. Ron Paul has said he wants a constitutional amendment to take the issue back to the states. He can't possibly get one with a Democratically controlled house and senate. Therefore, AS YOU WELL KNOW, his position on abortion is irrelevant because of his self-imposed restriction (the constitutional amendment) on his ability to do anything about it.
You are very good at changing the subject and misdirection, sir.
Don't think nobody's noticed.

45. That's the funny thing about "jokes". |
|
If you think someone IS a joke, and obviously you seem to think I am, then when does it stop being funny?
I'm sure you recognize why many news outlets don't include all candidates in their polls, right? Because they aren't relevant unless you make them relevant. My thesis was that you are trying to make Ron Paul relevant in your poll, when he's IRRELEVANT. It may be that this was not what you intended.
No one person can look into the posts of another person and judge their intentions fully. I try to live by a few basic rules, sir:
Never take a knife to a gunfight.
Never trust anyone with a pile of money.
Never go sideways of other folks beliefs.
You are probably the kind of person who appreciates Stephen Colbert. If you are, it's because he, like Andy Kauffman, never steps out of "character", as it were. His "identity" IS the joke.
It's not the kind of humor I appreciate, but I can understand how you might cast a person with a different perspective into that mold. All I can say is that things are rarely as simple as they look, even upon second glance. Many people who have cared VERY DEEPLY about things, like Charlie Chaplan, were often accused of "just fucking around". Does that diminish the passion with which they held their beliefs? I don't think so.
And of course, I don't get Charlie Chaplan or Stephen Colbert or Andy Kauffman at all. They weren't "funny".

The rest of the field are either Bible-thumping morons you could outsmart or slaves to their corporate overlords. Rudy is like the worst qualities of Richard Perle, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, George Bush, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Henry Kissinger combined. You can just imagine Rudy reading through a 12 billion page omnibus bill at 3am on a Tuesday just hoping to find that appropriation to give the kids with terminal cancer free coffins so he can give himself a boner as he crosses that provision out with his red pen with the monkey blood in it.

The rest would only muck up the war further, or twitter around some of our Constitutional rights. Ron Paul's ideas, if put into place, would completely destroy the country and society, and render the Constitution moot.

The only thing that keeps me from thinking Ron Paul is the scariest is that both parties in congress are trying to squish him like the bug he is. I have to think that would continue if he were in the white house. The only thing I'm most worried about with him is his foreign policy ideas. In foreign policy, the president rules. If he were elected, he'd pull back our military from all around the world to "save money". We could kiss our "sole superpower" status goodbye, then!
And if you ain't a superpower in this game, you're "just another country". Who the hell wants to be Denmark?
