Help feed the world's hungry people.
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 07:51 PM by pennylane100
I read about this on the BBC site, so I hope it's legit.

Go this this site and take the word quiz and they will donate 10 grams of rice.
DU should be able to donate many pounds if everyone visits the site and participates in the quiz.

Sorry, I forgot to post the site:

1. What nonsense! You mean they won't help the hungry unless
we take their quiz?

3. it's not like that -
the advertisers donate $ to the UN food bank that purchases the rice. the idea was thought up by a father whose son was taking some exams requiring vocabulary study & wanted to find a way to make learning fun & benefit others. my daughter took the exam today and donated 1000 grams of rice by virtue of spending her time - and she learned some interesting words as well. so don't be so negative "fed-up-granny" before you know the story.

2. Want to give directly to poor people, no middleman?
pm me and I'll give you my address, ship me a Forex box of goods or foodstuff and I'll take it up to the mountains and hand it out to some extremely poor and deserving people.

And I'll take pictures and send them back to you.

I was at it for 1000 grains before I "got" that there's no end to this quiz. A lot of fun, though. (I barely got my score above 45)

7. 1,000 grains of rice = 1 cup.
10,110 grains so far today. I'll go back to it later.

Neecy (DUer) supplied us with the information that 1,000 grains = 1 cup.
