costs skyrocket. Well, all I have to say is this report right here doesn't help. It disgusts me and just shows you how elitist some think they are and it further disgusts me that some would cater to them like supplicants to a king. "Sorry I can't serve the needy. It's my tee time." "Wait, who are you?" "How much do you make" "I'm sorry. I'll be right there."

(CBS 11 News) DALLAS A CBS 11 investigation uncovers how the rich and famous are getting VIP treatment at Dallas' UT Southwestern Medical Center, a taxpayer-supported state institution.

The hospital has a list of more than 6,000 movers and shakers who get perks, including special access to appointments. The names include high society figures, politicians, and even Arab sheiks.

The list, from 2003, notes the social status of each VIP with comments like:
• Close friends of George W. Bush Jr.
• World famous wedding cake maker
• Prominent family from Saudi Arabia
• Famous New York designer
• And the most common note, "HCP" which means "high community profile."

2. People scream about their tax dollars footing the bill
for the poor and undocumented worker but what about this? This enfuriates me more because they do not deserve this sort of treatment. Are they better than you and me?

10. Hubby & I are members of the "Poor"
and right now, your tax dollars are going to help him live with dignity and some minimal quality of life. He has been in the hospital since Oct. 30, and we don't know when or if he will be able to go home. His body is slowly failing.

I guess those folks who complain should be made to "walk a mile" in my shoes. Perhaps they would not be so hard hearted.

4. Agreed
But then the elitists wouldn't have their perks. There is a reason for them fighting it.

7. Part of the list includes
Hutchison, Tom Leppert, mayor of Dallas, and other people who are basically nothing more than socialites. Hell Jerry Jones who owns the Cowboys is on the list! WTF?

11. Don't they pay more for it?
Just because Texan taxes are going to the hospital doesn't mean it's free. Do you know many private hospitals that aren't tax-supported? It's an inconvenient truth in the US that you get more if you pay more for it. Of course they'll cancel their Saturday golf game to treat someone who is paying them an arm, a leg, and a firstborn child. TIA - This is America.

12. Not JUST Texas - keep reading
http://cbs11tv.com/topstories/local_story_313175057.htm...

>>>UT Southwestern's Executive Vice President for Health System Affairs defends the special assistance program. Dr. John McConnell told CBS 11 "This is a practice commonly used in the healthcare industry. Every major academic medicine in America has such a program. It has nothing to do with medical care."<<<

and

>>>One former employee told CBS 11, "We all had feelings that that was not really the right thing to do, to give them special treatment over anybody else, and people who even had been sicker."

The former employee also said "I had patients ask me, 'why did that person get seen sooner?' And it was very hard to give them an answer because we knew what the answer was. They were special assistance patients. But we certainly couldn't tell the regular patients that."<<<

So, it is widespread, they know its wrong and go to lengths to hide this from the regular public.

I don't recognize this country anymore.

13. There was a study whereby undocumented workers
brought in 9 billion dollars into my area and cost the area 861 million in services. Seems like a pretty good investment when looked at that way. Actually the rich and famous politically costs us more by forcing the present system on us.
