No 'Real Time with Bill Maher' due to Hollywood strike? |
|
Is it true there was no Bill Maher-show last Friday due to the writers' strike?

And that was supposed to be the season finale so he'll probably be back in February.

3. If you haven't noticed, there's been no new Daily Show, Colbert |
|
Report, David Letterman or Tonight Show either because of the writers strike. :-(
I miss the comedians' skewering of our government, satire and pointing out of absurdities.

9. I have heard about the strike and talkshows not airing. But since I don't live in the US, |
|
I don't watch all of those shows regularly, and didn't know the latest 'status' of the strike.
I religiously watch Bill Maher every sunday night on YouTube, but I was surprised not to see any clips from the show. So then I immediately thought about the strike. But Bill made it seem last week (I think the strike had just begun) as if there would be a new show last friday. They did announce Ben Affleck and George Carlin as their guests.

5. I would think "Real Time" meant |
|
that they had their own lines. I support the Writers wholeheartedly but is it crossing the line to have a show on that doesn't require lines being written?

MOST headliners on entertainment/chat shows are writers, themselves, so of course they would strike as well..not because they need the money, but because they used to be in the positions that many/most writers are in..Unions are about solidarity of the group..if the ones who "have made it" don;t support the ones who haven't, any strike will fail.. The bosses can easily replace the rank-and-file writers, but they cannot easily replace Bill Maher, Dave letterman and yes.. even those stooges Jay leno & Jimmy Kimmel :)

Do you think that's where Bill Maher gets all his prop-jokes from? ;-)
