Forget Chavez. King Juan Carlos walked out of the hall when Daniel Ortega accused... |

...Spain of intervention in his country's elections and complained about some Spanish energy companies working in Nicaragua, to which Nicaragua owes considerable debts, which the country is unable to pay. http://www.antena3.com/a3noticias/servlet/Noticias?destino=../a3n/noticia/noticia.jsp&sidicom=si&id=13286798To translate, try this: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr

1. but, but...he's the biggest, bestest king there ever WAS! |
|
just dig up Franco and ask him, who installed JC when he was a prince, even though the actual king was still alive http://txikilike.blogspot.com/2007/10/medieval-england-sides-with-medieval.html

6. does it mention in there why he renounced? or JC's special relationship |
|
with Franco?
lots of Jews in Spain 'renounced' their religion a few hundred years ago, too
you could do a little night time reading on that

close to Franco as you say, why did he push so hard for democracy and not follow in Franco's footsteps? Huh?

8. Because there would have been a coup? |

To praise someone for going from a dictatorship to a constitutional monarchy is OK, I guess, but sort of setting the bar low. What's wrong with totally abdicating?
I would be eternally impressed by any of the current crop of monarchs if they chose to abdicate.

12. there are those who say he was involved in the coup, and chickened out |
|
when he saw it failing
but me, I always trust the king. I always trust a man who was close to someone like Franco.
and what do you think the alternative to opposing the alternative to democracy might have been for him?
don't you think the Romanovs would have LOVED the chance to institute democracy in Russia, and live out their lives fat and happy on the public dole?
huh?

King Juan Carlos had a moment of greatness. That does not give him a pass for all future actions.
